Default using japanese electrical items in USA

I recently bought an promo XBOX lava lampand the electrical input is a 220V. What I'm wondering is, can I use this out of the box or do I need to buy a step-down converter?

Just make sure your breaker box does 110/220. Most do, but not all. Some of the older houses only have 110. That's all. Otherwise it'll pull too much juice and blow a fuse or kick a breaker.

Just out of curiosity, where'd you get a 220V Japanese electrical product?

Yeah, especially one that's a Japanese XBox promotional item. Freaky.
