THIS is the kind of review I like to see. Very informative on many different levels and even a few little tidbits thrown in there for the unitiated (like the bit about cel-shading). I give this one:

    8/10

Very descriptive and tell's how he actually felt about the game itself in his own words.

Excellent! My enthusiasm for the game may be at work here, but I'll give it a solid 8.

8/10 here. It covers the entire game pretty well. The explosive barrels comment bugs me though. Realism isn't an issue in a game like this. Overall, well done...quite well done, just has a few little bugs.

A little off at times, but nonetheless a thorough and well-organized review.

Commented on the history of the series, described the gameplay, sound, and graphics in a clear and logical manner.

I liked the part about the exploding barrels. If you've played this game, you know how frustrating they are. I just played Batman: Revenge of Sin Tzu the other night, and it's identical -- things blowing up everywhere!

Excellent. Great job, although I think the reviewer sort of burns out at the end. It seems like he/she ran out of things to comment on at the conclusion, but it is a great review overall. E^

    * I immediately cringe at any review which begins by gushing about a game's graphics. I'm much more interested in the gameplay, which will remain relevant when "TV-quality" graphics no longer impress.

    * I know what the reviewer means, but "blurs the line between television and gaming" is poorly phrased, and it's also incorrect in regards to this game. Madden 2004 is a line-blurrer; a cel-shaded cartoon beat-'em-up is not.

    * Why no background about the Turtles' renassiance, and how the new incarnations of the characters are much closer in tone to the original underground comic books by Eastman and Laird?

    * The review mentions unlockables as a "throwback," but in fact, this game-design phenomenon is a recent (and largely unpleasant) one.

    * Plenty of information about the gameplay.

    6/10.

(Heh, just realized how forgiving I am in reviews because I'm interested in the learning process, not ego-smashing, but I have to agree with Z here down to the last detail.)

Oscillating between an easygoing style and erroneous judgements, there's plenty of stuff to be (mildly un)enthusiastic about in this review, such as the use of parentheses to drop some words that offer an alternative reading of a statement. I find this vaguely annoying, though it's by no means as bad anywhere in this review as the example I just created.

Command of the language is very good yet not perfect, and the review seems full of barely contained energy. I have the feeling there's too many hyphens, but "turtle-radar" is certainly appropriate.

Can't edit, so I'm going to clarify. I meant to say "but full of barely contained energy." I do not have anything against active reviews such as this--my only comment was that the language could've been more interesting, though admittedly once that was accomplished this would've been a nearly perfect review.

There is enough information describing each aspect of the game. I would have liked to see more about the backstory...once again people are assuming what readers know or don't know. Most of the explosive paragraph wasn't really neccessary.

Plenty of good information here. A few areas could use more elaboration while other areas could stand a brief trimming. The review reads easy, and the screen grabs are nice to have since many people don't have the foggiest idea what cel shading is.

There's a couple of instances of clumsy language, but this pretty well written otherwise. The content leaves little to be desired and I get a good idea of what the writer thinks of the game. I really came away knowing what the reviewer like about the game, even though a good editor could do wonders for this. I actually think there are other reviews stronger technically, but this has that "spark" I'm looking for.

I'll give this one an 8/10.

An excellent job, covering all the bases in an informative, easy-to-read manner. This person has done some writing in his or her past (and honestly I don't remember whose submission this is) I'll bet. If there is a flaw in it at all, it's a little flat on "passion", which you've seen me go on about far too often by this time. Not everyone looks for this, and as a technical review and piece of descriptive writing, this is as good as any other in this contest.
