I guess technically the Kingdoms of Amalur Signature Edition, that was $275. After that it was Panzer Dragoon Saga at $180.

For my 8 bit collection Ant Eater by Romox set me back 65.00 (61+4 shipping ). Everything else was 2.00 or less.
I really haven't ever spent much on a single game. My Millipede arcade cab set me back $250 but that has been the most expensive single thing by far. I don't think I have spent more than $20 on anything that wasn't a new release.
Around $45 (Final Fantasy II Used)

For arcade cabinets, I paid $1000 for my 4 player Sunset Riders, $500 each for Time Soldiers and a Centipede cabaret, $250 for a pristine Popeye, and $150 for my 1-slot MVS set up as a dedicated Metal Slug.
For console, I paid $400 for my limited edition Mother 3 box with the GB Micro and Franklin Badge, and $165 for Top Hunter on AES. A couple of other AES games hit a little over $100... Sengoku 2 & 3 both did, and I feel I overpaid for Radiant Silvergun at $150 on Saturn.
I think I paid $250 for a CIB Tails Adventure for Game Gear then sold my sealed one to the second highest bidder against me of my open copy for $360. I think I bought the sealed copy on here for $150 or $200. I forget. It pays to leave sealed games sealed then sell them for more to buy an already open copy and other games with the profit IMO. I think Crusader of Centy for Genesis might have been $200 cart only too. So that's probably my runner up. If I love a game so much that I take the time to 100% it even though it's long, I feel like I've gotta have it no matter what. Unless it's just some short game that's really rare and I feel like it's not worth the money for the experience I had. Example - Bonk's Adventure for NES? That's not a $450 experience to me, especially when it's just a downport of an $18 TurboGrafx-16 title.

Hagane, for a lot
Also surprised I skipped this thread back in the day. For a new game, maximum is probably just above $60, for maybe an N64 title or back in the 80's, NES games like Metroid or Zelda that were hard to find and being scalped! For a used game in my "collecting phase," I'm not sure but I've spent maybe 50 on some like N64 Conker or a few Saturn games. I can say with utmost certainly I've never paid more than $65 on ANY video game in my life. I just won't buy it if it's more than that.

I can't remember if I added to this thread back in the day or not, but I'll just go ahead and say that the highest I've paid was about $160 for Panzer Dragoon Saga, and around the same amount for Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition. I'd say 2 pretty good investments on my part.
I remember reluctantly paying a bit over $80 (each) for Shining Force II, Phantasy Star IV, and Crusader of Centy when Sega jacked up the prices for new Genesis games - to add insult to injury they came in those crappy cardboard boxes instead of the nice (durable) clamshell ones.
When I come home from a long day in Hell, there's nothing I'd rather reach for than a fire-brewed bottle of Styx Beer. Made from the filthiest waters from our own River Styx. Styx Beer is a third more toxic than any other regular beer. The worst beer - the filthiest beer - the deadliest beer. It's Styx Beer!

$99.99 all day long... for the N64 version of Cruisin' USA when it first came out.
On a side note, how come Nintendo games were always more? Anybody ever notice how SNES games were always $10 to $20 more than Genesis titles? Same with N64 stuff. $99.99? In hindsight, THAT'S A RIP!
Yeah, that's right... WORD!
i've never seen an n64 game new for more than 69.99
You guys are nuts! I've shelled out $40.00 each for several 2600 CGE releases, but the most I've paid for a single game was $42.00 for a DC European Shenmue II I spotted in mint condition at a local used game store. It even came with a boot disc but I still felt like I was spending too much.
Got my Panzer Saga for $20 at TRU, got my Tooth Protectors for .79 at a thrift and got my PS2 GTA III for $9.99 at Goodwill. Getting 'em cheap is half the fun for me. And waiting for new releases to show up used at 1/4 the price isn't a problem as I have a beefy backlog of games to go through. Although I must admit I once dropped a total of $280 in one day at 5 different Best Buys when they knocked all of their Saturn games down to $10.00....timing is everything
A cheap bastard and proud of it!
