Default How to hook multiple systems to one TV?

Is there any way to hook my growing collection of consoles to one TV without having to plug/unplug to switch between different consoles?

I have 2600, NES, Colecovision, and (newly bought) Sega Genesis. There is a good chance I will be getting a couple other systems as well.

Sorry if this is a FAQ, but I just spent 45 minutes searching the forums and couldn't find anything...

    Thanks!

Yeah, go to any game store and many electronics stores and you can get a system selector. The selector hooks into the TV and the systems hook into the selector. You simply push whichever button corresponds to the system you want to play.

If you're using RF switches, just daisy chain them together.

(Cable Box out to sega RF in, sega RF out to NES RF in, NES RF out to....)

You will get a progressively worse signal (Staticy picture and sound) as you do this, and its not recommended.

Your best bet is to go and get a system selector ($20+) and switch between AV jacks (red, white, and yellow) Only, the 2600 requires mods to do AV out...don't know about the CV.

I use RCA splitters or the daisey chain method mentiond above. I dont like having to switch between anything.

yeah with the older systems with RF would be the chain way, if you have AV's on newer systems, buy an 8 piece RF modulator

You can buy RF switches (3 input) at Radio Shack cheap and not have all that signal degradation. I have one of these along with my System Selector Pro (Pelican) and am happy with them.

I have these boxes that I can plug 8 rf switches into. It has 1 output that goes to the tv. In most cases (with older systems) I just connect the cables from the systems directly to it and have the box connect to one rf switch that they all share.

You can daisy these 8-way boxes together...really all they are is 8 way splitters.

    Well, guess what?

I headed out today on a quest to solve this. I started at Electronics Boutique. They didn't have what I was looking for, but I ended up buying a used Nintendo64 for $15. Of course, I had to get some games... I ended up getting some buy one get one free N64, NES and Genesis games, some extra controllers and spent about $100.00. (Still no switcher)

So, a trip down the road to Radio Shack. The guy looked at me like I had three heads - no clue. But, they had another EB next door. Guess what THEY had? Dreamcast systems for $15.00. So, I had to get that AND some games to go with it. A couple of more buy one get one free Genesis games too. Another $50. That guy suggested Wal-Mart.

They had the Pelican System switcher for $20.

So, my little journey cost me $170 - but I got two more systems, and 15 more games.

Thanks for your replies... Now I just gotta hook it all up!
