While I was attending Tech School, a student posted a sale of his C-64 disk collection of over 200 disks for $25. I jumped on the deal, and ended up with over 500 games, mostly hacks, but at least 20 or so were on published disks.

I found both my Famicom and a Super Famicom at Savers. A week or two ago I found a very yellowed but functional SNES in the garbage

Got a Model 2 Genesis with a broken but fixable RF cable (and who wans to use the RF-Signals anyways), some broken but fixable Infrared-controllers for the Genesis, two dirty but functional 3-button-controllers (just needed some cleaning), AND a working Model 1 Genesis (one with HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS) printed on, all for 11 Euros. (1 Euro on ebay plus 10 for shipping; the model 1 wasn't even mentioned in the description). The seller thought it was all a bunch of trash and sold it as nonfuntional, and I was the sole bidder...

Also, on two different occasions, I found a yellowed but fully functional SNES (2 controllers, plus Super Mario World and Star Fox) and a Japanese Model 1 Genesis on different attics and could keep them for nil.

#1: Last year, in 2010, at a local Shell gas station. I was only there to buy a soda, but then in the CD shelf, filled with a bunch of brand new music albums, something caught my eye... I found a sealed copy of Zelda's Adventure for the CD-i! Roughly $15!

#2: Also last year, I managed to get a PlayStation with two controllers for roughly $10 at a GameStop not too far away. I don't know about other countries, but here in Norway that's dirt cheap. And I love the PS1.

#3: While visiting a girl in the opposite part of the country, we stopped by a garage sale, where I managed to pick up Command & Conquer: Modern Warfare(contains C&C and C&C: RA), which I'd never before seen, in addition to a couple of other games at a rather nice price.

    1. Got a sega Saturn with all hookups, Albert Odyssey, dragon force, 3 dirty dwarves, dark savior and 3 other cheap games for $20 at a pawn shop.

    2. River city ransom Nes cart for $5 from a kid at my hs.

    3. Three complete Atari lynxes with about 20 games for $25. Not really sure if the games are worth anything. Haven't researched it yet.

I don't know if Ebay counts, but I got a Sega Game Gear, 16 games and a nice, official carrying case to hold it all for $30 including shipping.

I found all of this in early 2009 at Salvation Army. The clerk only had tiny bags and garbage bags, so I got to carry this stuff in the latter. It was fun!

    PS1
-Tactics Ogre (missing the manual, bought one later for ten) $1.99
-Wild Arms (complete, nearly new!) $1.99
    -Azure Dreams (complete) $1.99
    -Guardian's Crusade (complete) $1.99
    -Legend of Legaia (complete) $1.99

    SNES
    -Xardion (loose) $0.99
-Lufia & The Fortress of Doom (loose) $0.99
    -Wanderer's From Ys 3 (loose) $0.99
-Romance of The Three Kingdoms 3: Dragon of Destiny (loose) $0.99

    PS2
    -GrimgriMoire (complete) $4.99
    -Wild Arms 4 (complete) $4.99
-Futurama (case and manual only, no game!) FREE

    MISC.
    -Shenmue (complete, VERY mint) $1.99
    -Final Fantasy (loose) $0.99

I've had other good finds too, but this has been my biggest so far.

Some of my nicer flea market/video store finds include:

loose EarthBound for $5 in 2007
Loose Final Fantasy 3 for $5 in 1999
boxed Crusader of Centy for $1 in 2008
    loose Megaman 5 for $5 in 2002-ish
boxed Intellivision (no games) for $10 in 2009
loose Pirates! Gold for $3 in 2002-ish
boxed Megaman X2, Super Mario RPG, and Secret of Mana for $6.99 each from a local video store in 1999
Complete Shining Force 2 and Theme Park (Genesis) for $4 each (they were 3 for $10, really) from the same video store in 1999
A very large collection of my Master System collection was also 4-for-$10 from this store, and included a factory-sealed Buster Douglas Boxing, and used/complete copies of King's Quest, Ys, Golvellius, and several other gems.

Finds like these just don't happen anymore these days...

This was easily the best deal I've ever gotten.

This sale is for a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) which includes 17 games, two controllers, a game genie and all the cords to needed to play the system. All of the games are in good to excellent condition and have all been recently tested to play on this SNES. All games come with either a dust cover, original box case or plastic covered case. No game is left open to the air. Most of the games also include the original instruction manual. These are all games from my personal collection and have been kept clean and free of dust the entire time I have owned them. For most of the games I was the original owner, so you can be sure they are in excellent condition.
Below is a list of items included in this awesome collectible SNES sale:

    Code:
    Game Box Manual
    Beavis and Butthead No No
    Breath of Fire No No
    Donkey Kong Country No Yes
    Earthworm Jim Yes Yes
Final Fantasy II Yes Yes+World Map
    Final Fantasy III Yes Yes
Knights of the Round No No
    Mortal Kombat II Yes Yes
    Ninja Gaiden Trilogy Yes Yes

Tetris and Dr. Mario Yes Yes
    Turtles in Time No Yes
    Zelda Yes Yes
Zombie at my Neighbors Yes Yes
    Game Genie No Yes
    SYSTEMS SUPPLIES
x1 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
    x2 Controllers
    x1 Power Adapter
    x1 RCA plugs
    x6 Dust Covers
    x6 Plastic Cases
    x11 Original SNES box cases
    x13 Original SNES Game Manuals

Yeah. All that? $170. Ninja Gaiden Trilogy alone (in box, with manual) is worth well over $300 just on its own.

I got these all from 1 garage sale for $15:
    Atari 2600 Jr.
Atari 2600 (Darth Vader black version)
    Third-party controller
    Adventure
    2 copies of Air-Sea Battle
    Asteroids
    Backgammon
    Basketball
    Beany Bopper
    Bermuda Triangle
    Bowling
    Canyon Bomber
    Circus Atari
    Combat
    Defender
    Demon Attack
    Demons To Diamonds
    Dodge 'Em
    Donkey Kong
    Dragonfire
    G.I. Joe Cobra Strike
    Gopher
    Ice Hockey
    Indy 500
    Journey Escape
    Mario Bros.
    Math Gran Prix
    Midnight Magic
    Mountain King
    3 copies of Pac-Man
    Pete Rose Baseball
    Q*Bert (Atari)
    Q*Bert (Parker Brothers)
2 copies of Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    RealSports Baseball
    Sneak'n Peek
    Space Invaders
    Space War
    Spider Fighter
    Star Raiders
2 copies of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
    Super Breakout
    Superman
    Video Chess
    Venture
    Word Zapper
    Yars' Revenge
    Zaxxon

I know those aren't particularly rare games, but still a huge deal.

From another garage sale for $5 I got:

    Sega Genesis
    5 controllers
    Battletech Complete In Case
    ClayFighter Complete In Case
    David Robinson's Supreme Court
    Desert Strike Complete In Case
    Jungle Strike Complete In Case
LHX Attack Chopper Complete In Case
    Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
NHL All-Star Hockey Complete In Box
    Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures
Pirates! Gold With case but no manual
    Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 with case but no manual
Sports Talk Baseball Complete In Case
    Twin Cobra Complete In Case
Urban Strike With case but no manual
PS1 Legend Of Dragoon Greatest Hits Complete In Case

This third one is a find I came across just as I was starting to collect, and therefore had no idea how much it was worth. It was for only $5, and I did buy it but minutes later returned it because the NES didn't have the cords and I didn't currently own an NES. I can't quite remember, but some of the games that came with it were
    Mega Man 1-6
    Kirby's Adventure
    Marble Madness
    Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3
Sega Master System Sonic The Hedgehog
There were a lot more games too and some manuals but no boxes. Totally regret passing up that deal :-(
