Default What Happened to these 2 DC Games?

Don't ask why, but I was thumbing through my Demos and decided to take out Demolition Racer: No Exit. Anyhoo, I pulled out the packing contents and started leafing through the booklet and saw these two titles with Cover Art and screenshots:

    Worms Pinball
    Stunt GP

So what's up? These aren't on the DC list but does anyone know about them & when they were cancelled? I'm pretty sure they were never released. I'll get scans if anyone wants them.

    Default As a side note...

There are lots of protos of DC games out there it would seem. Myself, along with a few other people on this board have a proto (or pirate, depending on who you ask) of Half Life.

And some other people here have protos of that Sirera Sport Parlor Game thing that is pictured on the Hoyle Casino instruction bool.

I have 2 different builds of Worms Pinball

The reason it was canceled is centered around the electronic scoreboard. One of the builds enables you to move the scoreboard around a little bit since it partly covers up the playing field. The other lets you set the brightness of the scoreboard and by making it dimmer you are able to see through it. It seems very complete and isn't a bad game.

Stunt GP I dunno. I have an early build of a game titled "Test Drive cycles" there is no title screen or collision detection. You just race around Washington DC in a big circle.

Castlevania was never actually worked on. It was canceled early. Any screen shots you may have seen were mockups.

    Default Castlevania and THE GRID

FWIW, there are lots of reports that Castlevania was indeed about 90% finished, but was cancelled because the developers didn't think it "felt" enough like a Castlevania game. I dunno, I've never seen the game running on a DC, so who knows?

The one I've been most interested in that was announced and never released was Midway's THE GRID. Maybe it got axed when they realized that netplay was nearing the end of it's DC life? That still doesn't explain why they didn't put out a PC version. Unless everyone lost interest after the coin-op finished its run.
Selling collection, Atari through XBox. Send a PM with whatever games you're looking for.

Well I did speak with or email (I can't remember which) someone who both works at Konami and was at least somewhat involved in the project. I do believe what I was told.

It was claimed to have never been worked on but its I guess its possible I'm being misled here.

    Default DC Halflife

    So Charlie

Is there any chance of getting a copy of the Proto DC Halflife?

You never really answered the question.

    I would be eternally grateful

I too have heard that Castlevania was worked on, and at least two or three levels were playable. I heard it was cancelled because it was starting to look too much like the hated N64 Castlevania games. Why on earth didn't they try for a beautiful 2D Castlevania rather than a cruddy 3D version?

For starters, I think it was being developed in America.

Worms Pinball was released on the Dreamcast in Europe, just not in other regions. It fetches a fair price (about $40 USD) on eBay. Worms Pinball was also released on Windows back in the day, was included in a two-pack with Worms Blast, and is available these days via Steam.

Castlevania Resurrection actually was developed and playable on the Dreamcast. It was to star Sonia Belmont, the progenitor of the Belmont clan and the first (chronologically) to face Dracula. A video from IGN can be found here, fifty-three screenshots here. From what's been written by those who spoke with the game's developers, the game's cancellation was attributable to SEGA of Japan's discontinuation of the Dreamcast and Konami of Japan's jealousy over the quality and success of Castlevania Resurrection's development in America - the Japanese developers felt the series was "theirs" and that Westerners couldn't "get" it. The Dreamcast's discontinuation acted as the excuse to axe the game rather than port it to the PlayStation 2. Character profiles, 3D character and enemy models, more videos, production notes, and story snippets can be found at the Castlevania Resurrection article over at the Castlevania Wikia.

Yeah, of course Castlevania Resurrection was worked on what with all the content that can be seen online. The art is childishly bad, though (just look at that drawing of Sonia; it looks like a 12-year-old drew it), and the characters look equally ugly in the CG. I don't know how they managed to make Sonia so damn hideous.

There were a ton of canceled DC games. Sega really shit on a lot of people when they backed out of the console race.

Yeah, ditto Vectorman0. Anyone got proof that it was? I don't think Worms Pinball NOR Addiction Pinball were released for Dreamcast.
