Default Blockbuster(s) make two mistakes tonight that saved me money

I went out late tonight with my wife to Blockbuster to get two used PS2 games as extra gifts for her niece and nephew who's birthdays are coming up...(15&7)
    (This week)

Blockbuster has a buy one get one 50% off sale going on...(I'm not sure if it's only for games etc.)
    So,
We hit the local Blockbuster, they didn't have anything to my desire or that I didn't already have.(not many used games for sale in this store)

My wife found a Wallace And Gromit In Project Zoo PS2 game for $19.99.(Complete)./niece likes Wallace And Gromit.
And a Jeremy McGrath Supercross World PS2 game for $6.99 (Case/Disc)(Nephew).........................(The only copies left)
We grab my Son a Kids (Elmo)Video Tape for $4.99
    Ok..
    So we have ..
    $19.99
    $6.99
    $4.99

I get up to the register and the total comes out to be $21.18..I wasn't complaining, shoot that's less then what I was going to pay.

The guy scanned everything in front of me..plus I always look over the discs before I leave.(I didn't leave quickly)

As we get into the car I look at the receipt..The Wallace And Gromit In Project Zoo PS2 game scanned at $14.99.. Ok..

The Kids tape was $4.99 rang up as $4.99 for a total of $21.18...No savings..
But,no Jeremy McGrath Supercross World PS2 game for $6.99 is on the receipt..I have no clue what the guy did..
    But I got a free game.. \^_^/
    He screwed up somewhere.

I was looking to buy at least some game tonight from Blockbuster for myself..
So we hit the Blockbuster a bit further down the road..
Same sale, lesser supply of used games.

I was about to leave when my wife found a copy of NFL Blitz 2003 for the Game Cube..$4.99/In GC case Complete.
I grabbed it and was about to leave when I saw Spiderman for the Game Cube for $9.99./Complete.
Spiderman one of those games I never bought/..played,but figured I'd get cheaper later.
    This was it,last copy.
I figure Ok I'll buy that and get the NFL Blitz 2003 for the Game Cube for $2.49 or so...Not too shabby.

    My wife pays this time.
The total comes out to $15.58..I looked at her and was like WTF!!

She told the guy about the sale..
He takes out a $5.00 coupon/scans it and now the total is $10.58..
(I'm reading this off the receipts).

As again I'm not complaining..I just got two games for $10.00 ,Sweet!!. .Second screw up from a different store..

We went to a third Blockbuster that I don't go to much..
    They never have anything...
Whew..They had a ton of used games I mean a ton..Even a ton of new titles with prices on them which the other two Blockbusters don't offer as much..
I must of spend 30 minutes looking through all the games..They even had a ton of old PS titles.

I didn't buy anything though..They may have had a ton of used games but the prices were high.

How the hell can you sell a used/beat up Xbox Counterstrike for $27.99 when around the corner in the second Isle it's $29.99 (I asked about the $27.99 copy.)
It's now sold storewide for $29.99

I tested out the Wallace And Gromit In Project Zoo PS2 game tonight..I like it,It's a nice looking fun game..
No lie,I played it for over and hour saving on a memory card and finishing several levels..

I then tried Jeremy McGrath Supercross World PS2 game...CRAPOLY!!..Worth $6.99 or free for a 7 year old kid.(Easy to play)

I don't have either game..I'm going to pick up Wallace And Gromit...and I may pick up Jeremy McGrath Supercross if I find it for cheap.

The morale of my story..I Scored twice tonight at two Blockbusters stores..It's not a big deal, but was unexpected.
    ...What were they smoking..(?)

All three stores were dead/no customers in them)

Yep, that Wallace and Gromit game isn't too bad... I think I'm the only person that payed the entire $40 release price, but it came with a free DVD. Now that that reminds me... I should finish that game...
    Egbert, I miss you...

If I'm going to buy a game as a present for someone I buy it brand new.

    That wasn't necessary.

Also, I feel a gift is fine whether it is new or used. It's the thought that counts.

Wallace and Gromit for Gamecube is only 7.49 at Target clearance if anyone wants it by the way!

    Sure,depending on what it is..

    But,
    They don't care.........We don't think like that..
They'd rather we'd had got it cheaper then spending $50.00 for the same game...Plus I can give them more for the money.

When they get me a game it's the same deal.
I like to hear the deal they got on it.

They buy the games from the same place as I do,
I find them the deals sometimes.

We gave them as extras mixed in with other gifts.
They both liked the Wallace and Gromit.

I didn't give the newphew the Jeremy McGrath Supercross World PS2 game.
It was just to crappy/game play wise...I kept it.

I stopped at a CVS and bought him Defender game for the PS2 for $11.99.
    He liked it.

Almost all of the stuff I got from my Girlfriend last year for Christmas was used. I could not have been happier.

Nice score btw. W&G is a pretty cool game.

Do you also refuse to accept used gifts? x_x Like it really makes a difference to his niece and newphew...
We can rebuild him. We have the technology.

I see nothing wrong with buying a used gift for a friend if you still spend the same amount of money on the person. It allows them to get more goods which is always good in my opinion

nice score, but alot of blockbusters in my area do a buy 2 get 1 free deal on used games...that's probably what happened at the first store...maybe you didn't realize it or they didnt' have it advertised. i've gotten better deals at blockbuster than i've ever gotten at a chain game store...even with gamestop's 30% destroy old games deal.

I never buy games at Blockbuster. Even if I got a deal, those rental cases bother me too much. If I buy a PS2 or GC game, I want the actual PS2 or GC case.
