Yes, and definitely worth the trojans that the popups try to install on your computer.Originally Posted by Querjek
Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with Edgeemu, especially since they host my website, but they should really do something about those kind of pop ups.

They took down the emu forums for a reason!

that's more than enough of a start for anyone looking for anything really.
So, what exactly is going on with roms and emulation these days? Is it okay to get roms now? Obviously not the newer systems that are still being sold, but for NES, SNES, etc? And what about MAME? Is that okay to download games for?
No, it's not okay. You are still taking someone's intellectual property without paying for it. Even if it's not available for sale or for a back-up, it is still technically illegal. However, DLing NES roms or Genesis roms is chump change as far as most digital law enforcement or intellectual property owners are concerned. They still want it gone, but they only go after the big guys, that's why Share Reactor was shut down, but the emulation forum here was tolerated or overlooked b/c many people here REALLY respect the game industry or are members of it and this is the cause of the policy that it was okay to talk about that emu here as long as it is in regards to games that are NOT available for sale. Seems that the site no longer wants to officially aid in stuff like that now. The ocean of file sharing have it be music, movies, games, even if only to 'try them out' is becoming ever turbulent. And as talking about this stuff is one of my obsessions, we need to not go overboard...oh I ramble and ramble.
2 Questions:
1. What do you recommend a ROM newbie download to get started.
2. Are those "arcade style" usb joysticks that take up the whole desk any good? Recommendations?
Roger
As far as the "arcade style" USB joysticks, I don't know. I use a PS2 style USB controller.Originally Posted by rscaramelo
When you ask what we recommend a ROM newbie to download, do you mean what Emulators would we recommend? If so, then try Jnes for NES ROM's. It's a really simple, but great emulator. Personally, my favorite NES emulator. For Genesis, I recommend Gens. And for SNES, I use snes9x. ZSNES is another good SNES emulator.
You can download any of those at the sites mentioned already.

Is there any place where you could download, for example, 200 NES Roms in one shot?
