yes!! another wonder boy fan!! and i thought i was the only one. although i am a big wonder boy fan, i can't pick it because the turbo geafx version dragons curse is so much better. which is also why i would not pick river city ranson, downtown nekketsu is so much better.

there are so many great games it would be a toss up between kid icarus and spellcaster for the sega master system. I think i may be leaning more toward spellcaster. such a great game.
Currently looking to trade for Magical Chase any version, and especially Dynastic Hero USA version. I have Samurai Shodown V Special MVS, lots of other MVS titles, and tons of games. Check out my profile over at http://gametz.com/user/greedostick.html if you are looking to get rid of one.

My personal favorite 8-bit game is Super Mario Bros. 3, with Metroid in 2nd and Blaster Master in 3rd.

This is my favorite game from my childhood, and I think it is the greatest 8 bit game. It honestly looks like an early 16 bit game. HUGE levels as well!
SMB 3 is the obvious choice, but I thought I'd go a different route.
Call me a Fanboy, but you can't possibly say any of the earlier 8 bit systems have a game better than SMB 3 or any great NES title.

Thank Christ; I was about to the end of the list and hadn't seen it mentioned once yet. Although I appreciate SMB3 and think it is a good choice, really, Battletoads makes it look like Solitaire.

Not only is Battletoads my favorite 8-bit game, it is my favorite console game.

Thing is, the best 8-bit game is also the best game for any console....
    Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Bros. runs a close second.

You've got it backwards. SMB is the greatest 8bit game of all time. SMB3 runs a close second :P

    2600:Pitfall 2
    Nes: Castlevania III
    Sms: Phantasy Star

If I had to just pick one it'd be Phantasy Star but I figured i'd pick one for each system.

This is one of the rare times I won't pick Metroid. But Metroid is a very close second to... Super Mario Bros. 3.

Super Mario Bros. 3, hands down. I have the "Level 2" music playing in my head all the time now.
I changed my sig because the old one sucks.
