'-' and '+' vs the old 'flag' and 'non-smiley face'

Joe told me to haul my ass over here and start posting my opinions here, so here it is (Hi ya Joe! ).

I haven't seen this posted in here before (if I missed it - sorry, I've been out of touch lately).

Question I have, does anyone like the '-' and '+' symbols in the latest issue of the collectors guide? I was told that this was changed from the old non-smileys and flags to the current system to create a more profesional look to the guide.

I say 'to hell with that'. > I liked the old symbols, which stood out so much better. They also added personallity to the guide that I think is lacking in the latest edition. I still think the latest edition is really good, its just doesn't have that style I've always come to expect from DP - at least in some areas!

For me, the + and - signs are a lot easier to miss than the old symbols. Plus I could take a colored pencil & color code them to make it easier to find without messing up any text. Green for the frowns and red for flags. Ever try to color in a + or - sign?

Which do I *like* better? Definitely the graphic versions. I vote we bring them back! :grin:

I've noticed that while this topic is getting views, there's not too many people replying. Not to many gamers have an opinion on this or what?

Come on and participate. If Joe got me into this forum, so can you! Bring it on and get those little graphics back into the next Collectors Guide!!!!

Well Joe, looks like we have a winner here. Out with the +/-, back in with the and . So, whomever is on the 'commity' to put together the next Collecors Guide, get those graphics back in print!

Not a lack of guts, just forgot.

It was me, I admit it. When I first opened up the book, I immediately noticed the + and - signs. Maybe it's because of the old comic price guides and beckett mags I used to read (where it was related to price changes) but it caught my attention.

And, since I've never seen the old flag and whatever thingies, I'd have to stick with what I know.

But hey, it's still 11 against 1.

I like the old flag and smiley face better, it adds a warmth to the guide, go back. I also think that the guide should have tons more pluses and minuses of flags and frowns, it needs everyone's input, not just that sections writer's opinions.

I disagree. I think that only the games that REALLY stand out as being awesome or terrible should be included, and that number should be just about as limited as it is. This isn't a game review guide, this is a game collecting guide. This is just a fun little bonus, like the Santulli Slant.
