Somebody once told me to get a life.
I told them I sold it for money to buy video games.

Dude, i felt the same way. Now that I've gotten both of my Holy Grails (a PC Engine Duo-R and the Neo) my collection really feels complete...all i have to do is start hunting for the games now The PC Engine stuff has been easy, but the N*G is gonna be a whole nother story lolOriginally Posted by autobotracing
In a way, its kinda sad that theres no other Holy Grails for me. All of the anticipation and years of wanting will never happen again....

I'm thinking about going that route as well. I just wish that the MVS had some cool ass art on em...they must stick out like a sore thumb when displayed. But i guess, in this case, you pay one way or the other...Originally Posted by vincewy

Come and join us! I paid $90 for my Neo Geo CD (the shipping was high though). Try to score one from a US seller. Be it MVS, AES, CD, or CDZ, the system is worth every penny. I've already got my eyes on two games, but in December, Metal Slug will be mine.Originally Posted by GENESISNES

The S-Video & stereo mods are super easy for anybody with soldering skills. Check out the instructions at neogeousa.com. No real expertise required. Just substitute the ECG85 with the NTE85 & you're all set.Originally Posted by Tempest
The S-Video mod makes an appreciable difference, but the stereo mod isn't really worth it unless you can't stand having a headphone->RCA adapter plugged into the front.

wait-do MVS/AES games need to be played on separate systems? This is confusing :robot:

From what i understand(and thats not saying much) is the MVS are/is and arcade setup, take there own carts, stuff like that.
AES is the home system. there are 2, jap/us....do they play each others games?
now this had nothing to do with the neogeo cd correct?
now from the horse racing topic, stakes winner is avaible in us format on a cart....and well jap format versions 1 and 2.
If i can get this game on a cart i will buy the cart system. it's just been soo long since i've even played a neogeo. got to be what 8+ years
My life and perception has changed, but my principals are the same.
Oh man...Holy Grail indeed. I remeber seeing one back in the day and thinking..Uber hardcore!
Those are waaaaaaay out of my price range. Maybe one day I'll run across a CD one, but being a purist I would really want an AES.

ok searching further...i find the Phantom-1 Converter.
now my understanding i need to get clear. This allows you to play MVS games in the AES?
again does does jap/us/euro matter with this system for aes or mvs carts?

There are no territorial lockouts with the neo geo. You can play any cart on any system, so long as its AES or MVS (and the cart is the same type). If it's played on the convertor, I can't see there being any difference.

I had been a fan of the Neo Geo ever since that system came out.
I even have 2 if slightly worn ad/flyers. That I would really take a cheap
Playstation game for. But never that price for just a 16-bit system.
There is no doubt that the Neo Geo had some truely great games.
But the price even now, even if you were lucky to find it cheap
you still need the memory card. That is why I like todays gaming,
where you can run just about anything on the machine your reading
this posting on. Where roms are hard to find (for some systems) and
emulators that run properly are even harder to find.
LONG LIVE THE NET
Bumping this as it's been a long time since we shared our general opinion of the systems with each other.
Who hasn't commented?
the neo geo is my favorite system, and probably the only system i couldnt live without. im in the process of selling off 2/3 of my collection, because since ive gotten my neo i cant even find any other games that interest me.

BLAST AWAY AND GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've bought the Neo Geo on christmas 1992 (if I remember correctly) with Robo Army, then I've bought Mutation Nation, KotM 2 and 3 Count Bout. After a year I stopped playing with it.
Around 2000 I've found Art of Fighting (happily played when I was younger at the arcade) and Nam 1975. As they were cheap I've bought them just for collecting. Never played.
2004, last 3 months: I get sick, I go to the hospital then at home. I don't know why...but I take the Neo Geo and AoF, after more than 10 years.
What happend next? Well...
After buying a modded Neo, Sengoku, Sengoku 2, Magician Lord, Blue's Journey, The Super Spy, Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug 3 and 4, Sengoku 3...I am waiting for Metal Slug X (all usa) and I don't know if I should play with the last GTA or MS3!
What did I loose for 10 years...
