Simple question. Answer honestly, and justify if you feel the need to. :fadein:

Dreamcast for me. Prior to the DC I had not been "into" video games much since right after the SNES was released. The Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat mania killed my interest in video games which did not return when the 32-bit systems rolled around (I got a PS, but did not play it much).

The DC was the first console that I thought did acceptable 3D graphics. It died early, but in that short lifespan delivered a ton of games that I found highly enjoyable in all genres. It was also my introduction to online gaming (I've never been into PC games), and I probably spent more time playing PSO than any game since Super Mario World.

The DC also happened to come along at a really good time in my life (which I won't get into here), so I have lots of good memories to go with the machine. It was the first time I felt real excitement about the industry since 1989 when the 16-bit systems and new handhelds were introduced. Now that the DC is gone my interest has tapered off again, though I do still have a current console (Xbox).

    Gamecube. :changes:

    Quality over quantity.

I like originality in my games, Nintendo and Sega are two of the biggest remaining developers who are willing to go out on a limb to try new concepts and ideas which most of the other companies won't take a chance on.

It's already got some great games released for it, the upcoming releases look fantasic and are cube exclusives and the little fella packs one hell of a lot of power, many developers having reported that it is actually capable of far more than Nintendo are letting on.

I voted gamecube as well. I agree with what NvrMore said, as well as the future release list looking more solid than anything out there atm. I am also currently addicted to Pikmin. Just planting and growing my little bundles of wide-eyed joy, planting and growing, killing weird stuff and more planting and growing.
Then people (like my parents) want to know why I hate gardening. Well, you can't order the flowers around to attack anything you see. But that would be so cool, having a hundred strong army of huge plants following you down the street.
How did I get from saying 'I like the gamecube' to talking about armies of flowers?

Good God, exactly the same situation for me. My DC library is by far the largest of all five new systems that I own (DC, GBA, GC, X-Box, PS2) for a reason.

Dreamcast. It was a toss-up between the DC and PSX. I've logged a lot of hours on my PSX mostly with driving games and puzzle games. The graphics on some of the DC games are amazing (Soul Caliber, Dead or Alive 2) and the variety is great. The DC is a breathtaking beast.

I'm almost ashamed to admit the real reason I picked it over PSX.

uhhh..... okay. House of the Dead 2

    I guess I'm just disturbed.

    Default DC for me. See?

It just "feels" like the classic video game systems. Tons of fun games, tons of odd games, groovy peripherals including maracas, a fishing reel, microphone, and the obligatory light guns ...

Huge library has more great titles than bad, and offers something for everyone. Plus the console has 4-controller ports built in, and those groovy VMUs to play even more games.

And it even has Mr. Driller AND Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (X)! And Typing of the Dead! And Tennis 2K2, Jet Grind, Mars Matrix, Confidential Mission... What's not to love? :rainbowafro:

It's a hard decision for me.

I love all the rpg's on the psone, but the DC has such a wacky-fresh library that makes me all tingly inside, woo!

If it came right down to it, I'd probably pick psone by a tiny margian, just for the fact that it has Final Fantasy Tactics...

If you're disturbed, then what are we? I often play that one alone with both light guns!

    No N64 or Saturn?

    (sorry had to)

I voted PS2 as it can play Ps1 games and has some real fun games. I'd like to say GC but I don't own one.. I have a DC and I don't think I've hooked it up sense I got the ps2.

Default The Typing... of the Dead!

I actually think the Typing of the Dead is better than HOTD2, it's seriously laugh-your-ass-off funny.

I voted PS2 mainly since I haven't played many of the other modern systems, mainly the X-Box, GC or others. I just recently got into the PSX finally and I'm loving it and the fact that the PS2 is backwards-copatable with it makes it even better for me.

I am not sure if I like the Dreamcast or PS2 more. I like many of the games for each and it is nice to play psx games on PS2. I really enjoy Sonic Adventure for the dreamcast. I've played it a lot. However, I have many PS2 games I enjoy as well. With all of that being said, I do think with some of the up-coming games the gamecube may come from behind and take over the #1 spot. It is too hard for me to pick only one though!

I got my Gamecube mainly so I could get Sonic Adventure 2. That and I usually like Nintendo's games.

@Arcade Antics: both guns? hmmm, I think I know what I'll be doing tonight.

@Astro Lad: Typing of the Dead is a riot. I like the little Dreamcasts strapped to the characters backs. I just can't type for shit, although I suppose I will if I play enough.

    I pick Xbox "of course."

It appeals to my gonads, and is just fun, fun, fun. Every game I have played on Xbox gets my blood pumpin, and makes me forget i'm playing a game.

I can't wait till Xbox Live kicks off, Unreal Championship is a game I am looking forward to unlike any other. Oh i've also seen the new Turok game in action, WOW!

To me. Xbox is the spiritual sucessor to the DC as it includes many revolutionary things in the box, without needing to upgrade. "Upgrade" is a word I have learned to stay away from in the console world, and with 4 controller ports, a hard drive, games that appeal to my gonads, and online ready, it has all i'm looking for!

You hit the nail on the head. I was out of home gaming from about the time of Sonic 2 to somewhere between Gran Turismo 1 and 2. Though I picked up a PSX first, the DC really won me over and that was the console that put me right back into gaming.

Why? Well, unlike anybody else at the time Sega (and seemingly Capcom if you look at it) wasn't afraid to put out the old fashioned quarter muncher kind of games that kept me in the arcade at least 2 times a week in high school. UNlike the PSX (which seemed to be overrun with games wanting to be movies) and the N64 (loaded with teidous treasure hunt-esque 3d platformers) the DC gave me a high adrelenin gaming rush that I didn't have to wade through big instructions, boring cut scenes, or trying to collect all the magic stars to get to.

Of course, that probably is what let to the DC ultimately being shunned by the public at large. Oh well, their loss.

Dreamcast because there are only 255-260 games in the library to collect, has some great games, and the price of a lot of the games is like $10.

And I only have about 130 more games to get. Hopefully most of the games will cost me between $10-$20.
