My good buddy (and best man at my wedding) is Kenneth Scott. ID Software artist. He did all of the Quake 3 skins, and some of the weapons and textures.

I knew he'd make it one day...and he did!

The closest connection I have to VGindustry is getting my name mentioned in one VG magazine almost 2 years ago. I wasn't even expecting to see my little 1 liner get published at all.

I have several friends in the industry. Most notably would be Al Yarusso (co-founder of AtariAge) who worked on Deus Ex amongst other games. The strangest connection I have to the industry is the woman who cuts my hair. Her brother was one of the guys who worked on Mortal Kombat (strange eh?).

I always wanted to work in the industry growing up, but once Atari crashed it lost its appeal. I've actually been told it's not as fun as you'd think, lots of long hours and hard work. Of course that's not all that different from my current job...

My half-brother was a game tester for the sequel to Interstate '76 and for Heavy Gear. That's about it.

    Default My connections

I went ot middle school with Jordan Maynard. He is son of David Maynard. D. Maynard worked at Electronic Arts starting in 1983, so he was one of the very first there, I believe. Anyhow, Jordan eventually stopped coming to Jr. HS, and began being homeschooled (I think). ...years later, i found his name in the credits of Virtual Pinball (from EA) for Sega Genesis.

Oh, and I bought a Turbo-Grafx16 game from Clint Dyer on ebay once.

I've met Jay Fenton and Jamie Faye Fenton.

Oh, and Steve Harris was quoted in a fanzine interview as saying "And don't listen to Russ Perry Jr", while Chris Bieniek once called me "ubiquitous" in the pages of Tips & Tricks.

    Default Hm...

I'm not sure when it started but I guess by this point I'm *in* the video game industry, for better or worse.

All the same, I don't think anyone I grew up with is also in the industry or anything. The people I know are people I met through the games business...

For what it's worth I traded 'zines with Chris Johnston waaaay before he joined EGM, and he even contributed a very prescient article ("Will The Sega Saga Continue?") to one of my later issues.

I won the first (and only) poetry contest in Classic Gamer Magazine. Then they mispelled my last name and corrected it in the nest issue, so I got my name in there twice! I'm famous!
