    Default Sega Arcade System Connector

Now that I'm a proud owner of Sega's Altered Beast, I had a question. Since the cabinet is not Jamma compatible, I assume that I can easily slap any other System 16b motherboard in there. Here's my question though - are all Sega motherboard connections from the mid 80s to early 90s the same? Did they all use the same proprietary connector so I can just swap them out?

Really couldn't tell you any specific ones that match. I would go to System 16 and check all in that 16B family then search out the two pinouts and compare. From there maybe expand my search through the other system 16 boards and hope they match up. As for Sega using any type of generic controller, not really from what I have seen but I do tend to deal with ones with weird controllers - Hang-On, Afterburner, etc
