I live in Evanston. Don't know if I've got anything you want, but I figured I'd give a shout out.
BTW--I'm not a mod, but this might have gone over better in the Buying and Selling Forum.
Well, overall these thread is to make buds and maybe down the line buy/trade something thta one would need. What I mostly looking for is neo geo aes/mvs and turbografx games. IS their any good video game store around Evanston?
I'm north of Chicago near the Wisconsin border and it would be cool to get together and trade and stuff like that. let me know.
Btw this should get moved to the events forums page it probably would draw more attention.
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

Not really. There's no indie stores. I just moved here last year, so I have no idea where the good video game stores are. The EBGames on Church has a wicked deal with all 8 and 16-bit games; buy one get one free, and they're dirt cheap. There are some cool ones in there, actually, so have a look in there if you're in the area.Originally Posted by snkryo
I'd love to find a place around that sells Atari stuff...actually there is a place in Gurnee Mills up north. It's called Music Recyclery, and they seem to have a real active trade going there (they're also an Amazon.com store). Vintagegamecrazy probably knows what I'm talking about.
Actually the Music "ripoff" recyclery is pulling the lame out lately, pricewise, selection wise and as far as employees go they are not what they used to be. I do know of a few other stores though. PM me guys and maybe we can go thrift shopping sometime.

Check out Sean Kelly's store in Chicago -- I think it might be just what you guys are looking for!

Then I saw a toploader outa the side of my head and was magnetically drawn towards it. NOT FOR SALE! was written underneath it. Then I noticed all the NES games he had for sale. With the cheapest being like 9.95. I said no way and proceeded to walk out until I saw a sega saturn.
It was priced 78 dollars if I remember correctly with all the hook ups and one controler. I don't think I ever laughed so hard in my life.

I work in Evanston, how awesome. Maybe we can meet up sometime? I work at the Maxi Dollar on Dempster St. on Sundays if you want to drop by, ask for a guy named Ted. You can give me a heads up, and I can bring my games and you can bring yours if you want to trade, or show me a list or something first online, mine is already in my sig.Originally Posted by Graham Mitchell
Oh, I also never knew the EBGames on Church sold old games? Is that the one across the street from the Century theater?
i am off this Sunday (16th) - Tuesday (21st) if anyone wants to do some game trading/shopping in the Chicago or St. Louis area

how far is Evanston from Naperville?

Evanston I think is about an hour from Naperville. There are no independents out here, and I don't even know where the thrift stores are. Most of my luck with thrift stores both out here and in Seattle has been bad over the past couple of years anyway (that's why I'm always shocked when I read threads of people saying they bought a boxed Sega CD with Snatcher and Popful Mail for $30 at Value Village.)
We'll a very wonderful friend of mine is having a video game tournament in Chicago. Here is some details.
Events:
-DDR Max 2
-Guilty Gear/Street fighter 3: Third stike
-Marvel vs Capcom 2/Capcom vs Snk
*Each event is a $10 entry fee. So for all three events it would cost you $30.
*First place price is $60 on each event.
*Second place price is $20 on each event.
*No third place prize.
So overall, you can win $180 if you enter and win all three events.
The date is January 22, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. (practice time) and the tournament will begin around 4:00 p.m.

I too am from the Chicago area. North Aurora to be exact. I stopped collecting a little while ago and am now in the process of selling my collection. I'll be keeping most the newer systems and my cabs though.
Anyways, for all you interested. The BEST place that I have found for used NES and sometimes Genny, PSX, N64, and DC games is Disc Replay. I just picked up Dragon Warrior 3 & 4 there CIB for $15 each. =)
good luck
