Default Sonic the Hedgehog alternate label

I just got a genny cart of Sonic with a different sticker. Sonic is on the right, and there is mostly a beige background. Is this the NFR cart? Is it rarer or more valuable?

Sounds about right to me. Original Sonic 1 Cart. A picture might help. Which one are you used to seeing?

    It has this Sonic artwork?

It could be a Canadian version. Canada got the Euro Sonic art except with the Genesis name instead of Mega Drive.

Wow, I was totally unaware of that. I picked up a Sonic 1 cart a few months back and thought the artwork was a variant or something. I guess I know now that it's the U.S. vers.

I grew upon that art, and every other cart I've seen, besides my own now, has been that one. Hum.

It is that basic artwork, but a bit differently arranged on the cart. I'm sure it's the same one. Is that the canadian version? It looks really nice.

That pic is the European one but the Canadian one's the same except it has a Genesis logo instead of a Mega Drive one.

Looks like I have the Canadian cart. I think the art is much nicer. Thanks!

I found that exact version last March. I posted about it at AtariAge at the time.

It sure does. I'm glad to have it. Much nicer art, IMO.

I have a Brazilian copy of Sonic that also uses that artwork as well.

hmmm. The rerelease has the U.S artwork up here in Canada, but the original is just like what's been posted. I wonder if us Crazy Canucks got any other different artwork for games?

It almost never happens but Pikmin 2 is another example of different box art in Canada than the US.

back in my early days i spent $8 on a loose copy because i had never seen one and thought this was some secret variant. then i found one complete for $1...
\the back of the box is in about 5 languages, so i figured it wasnt from the US....looks cool, but a big waste of $8 i guess....

    Bomb Canada? Who? These guys??

    J/K...

Actually, I like the US Pikmin 2 box in that case. Canada's is too plain. At least in the US, the Pikmin are fighting for their country. The ones on the Canadian one must be French.. or Swiss. Just standing there watching from afar. :P I keed! I keed!
