Default Good Price on a Game Gear?

Hey everyone I'm new here I only discovered this place recently. I'm mostly into Nintendo systems (NES, SNES) since i never owned any Sega stuff back in the day. However I came across a guy who wants to sell his Game Gear and a few games for it and I was wondering if this is a decent deal or not. Here's the details:

    Comes with:

    12 Games:
    Sonic Triple Trouble
    Sonic The Hedgehog
    Sonic The Hedgehog 2
    The Lion King
F15 Strike Eagle (flight simulator army jet game)
    Tazmania
    Mortal Kombat
    Super Columns (Tetrisish)
The Simpsons: bart vs. The Space Mutants
    The Majors: Pro Baseball
    FIFA International Soccer
    Tailspin (cartoon bear things, Disney)

    7 individual game cases
    Clip on Magnifying glass
    Carrying case

    Price: $25 Canadian

It doesn't come with the battery pack or the AC adaptor, and there are a few minor scratches on the screen as usual with game gears. Is this worth picking up?

I would easily buy that, the console alone is worth most of that alone. You can buy an universal ac adapter for it.

or just use the database for prices.

Does the Game Gear have the sound and screen working? Does it come with all of the battery covers? If so, then heck yes, that is a good price.

like he said, the price is right, but is the condition alright?
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

The system alone usually fetches $25 - $35 US, so that's a great deal if it comes with that stack of games. However, the Game Gear is notorius for three things:

    1. The screens are easily marred and often horribly scratched. These can be replaced with new ones (found on eBay), so that's usually not a big deal.
    2. The sound is often out. For some reason, 50% of Game Gears I've stumbled across have no sound at all. Don't know why the sound is prone to failure, but you'll definately want to try that out before you buy it.
    3. It eats batteries like a Gremlin. Either get the power supply or rechargable batteries, or get ready to replace them often.

Great system though. But check it before you buy it, or you could end up with no sound and a mangled screen.

If it works 100% and has battery covers, Yes. it is worth the price. I paid $60 for mine (Had 14 games and carrying case) in 2004.

IIRC, its a blown capacitor causing the sound to stop working.
If you can find the right one you can replace it (so ive heard...)

Thats a great deal, as long as it doesn't look like it's been tied to a car bumper and dragged. I'm sad to say I've seen a Game Gear that looked like this.

I think everybody has touched on the same sentiments here. So long as it's in good working condition, snap that puppy up! I paid about $30 Canadian for mine back in the fall, and it came with seven games, carrying case and AC Adaptor.
