    Default Collections: A to Z

Looking through my collection list here at DP, it occurred to me that a silly collecting milestone was within my grasp: A system collection covering each letter of the alphabet!

When I checked, my PlayStation collection had A-X covered. So, one trip to EBgames (Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories) and a couple of winning ebay bids (You Don't Know Jack and Zero Divide) later, I'm going to have it!

What does it mean? Nothing at all! Except that my collection is at least 26 games big, I guess. So what collections have you run the alphabet with?

EDIT: Based on the replies in this thread, I've compiled a list of systems that offer the possibility of collecting across the alphabet. I'm assuming only U.S. releases here (except for the Master System, which only anagrama seems to have an A-Z set for. And I wouldn't trust a Brit to keep a U.S.-only collection )

Please let me know of any errors or updates.

    Possible Systems
    Atari 2600
    Genesis
    NES
    PlayStation
    PS2
    SNES

    Live Systems, Not Currently Possible
    Gamecube

Dead Systems, Not Possible without Import
    Dreamcast

I'd say the Dreamcast... but there are no US releases that start with the letter "Y" - otherwise I got that.

Well, I guess that's close enough. No sense in going out and buying some sort of crazy Japanese pachinko/dating-sim just to fill things out.

But then on the other hand, wouldn't that be, like, the distilled essence of completist collecting?

I have at least one across all my systems (233 games total), thanks to Quackshot, X-Men Children of the Atom, etc. Across one system, the closest I am is N64 (missing A, H, L, O, Q, R, U, V, X and Z).

Any suggestions for those missing letters? :P

I've got a Alphabet run for the PlayStation and only need a 'Q' for the PlayStation 2. My Xbox list is short a "I, L, Y and Z" My Cube collection needs a 'J, Q and X'.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

funny how I just alphabatized my N-Gage collection and even having all but two of the released games the N-Gage game list is no where near covering the alphabet.

Got everything covered for CD32 except X and Y ... I don't think there are any titles which start with those letters anyway, except the unreleased X-Fighter.

    AeroFighters Assault
    Harvest Moon 64
Legend of Zelda (either one) or Lode Runner 3D
    Off-Road Challenge
    Quake
Rampage (any), Robotron 64, Resident Evil 2
U - U are on your own on this one.
    Vigilante 8
    Xena: Warrior Princess
    Z - you're screwed again.

Unless you go imports ... then "Ucchannanchan no Honoo no Challenge: Denryuu IraIra Bou" and "Zulu: Mahou Tsukai Densetsu" look pretty good.

I'd be curious to know what systems you can even accomplish this on. I was thinking about running through my head with them, but of the systems I own a bunch of games for, I know they didn't have the full alphabet (Dreamcast - Y, Jaguar - tons). Which systems do? I'm guessing Playstation, Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Playstation 2, Xbox, GameCube? That might even be a bit too many.

    Interesting topic!

I have it for the NES. I actually noticed that I was close about a year ago and went out and bought Othello (O) and Zanac (Z) just so that I would have one for each letter.

I just checked and I now have at least 2 for each letter and am only 3 letters away from having 4 for each.

Count me in for the Atari 2600. I haven't checked, but since i have about 510 different games for that system, and the most difficult letters covered (Q*bert, X-man, Yar's Revenge & Z-Tack for example) i guess i have the complete A-z too...

I have A-Z across my entire collection, but not across any individual systems.

The closest I am with this is probably my SNES collection, where I need Q, V, and X. And there's not really anything I want within those letters. However, I might go for it just for the hell of it someday.

Q*Bert 3 is actually a pretty good game, if you are going for something there

Gamefaqs http://www.gamefaqs.com has alphabetical lists of games for just about every system, so go check there if you're trying to fill in gaps.
