Default Propeller Arena: Let's Buy It

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3000386471

Dp posted about this being up on ebay in the protos in the news thread. I don't know about the rest of you, but I really want to play this game, and I can't afford to buy it myself.

I think anyone here that is interested in having this game, should pool their money together, and let's try to buy it. Then someone here who has the know how, can rip it and burn it for everyone who pitched in.

I know some here are totally against burned games, and so am I for any official releases, but c'mon this could be the only chance to play this game.

I'm for it and would be willing to chip in some dough. It'd be the only way I'd ever get to play this game and I imagine it would be the same for most people. Anybody else up for it?

I'm in if I end up losing that Rescue Terra I auction (which ends two days before this one).

what if everybody chipped in to buy it, then after some one made copies for everybody, we resell it and get most our money back? Cause we couldn't decide who would get to keep the original right!

BUT: don't you need something special to play proto games? Also you need something to play copies right?

actually i was thinking about that, and you have a pretty good idea.

first we gotta see if we can get more people involved, there is still awhile to go on the auction.

Well getting a DC proto to work isn't that simple.

I'm afraid you need the system 2 disk. These aren't CDRs they are GDRs. There are several high profile DC protos floating around in collectors hands and for some reason no one has been able to do copy one for play without a system disk so far.

I do have an extra DC system 2 disk but I'm waiting till I find someone with an extra unreleased proto.

BTW: There is a good chance that you may be able to play Propeller Area at this years Philly Classic.

Butta did you happen to get the sellers name?

Of course, you could rip it, and pass it on to the DC dev community. They're probably better equiped to patch the thing than we are.

Damn, I'd love to buy it, but of course I don't have that type of money.

Hopefully whoever gets it, rips it and releases it for all to play.

Dunno, but I would imagine it's somewhere around there.

Opening bid for the auction was 500

Thats ALOT for a DC proto.

A Half-ife life just exchanged hands for HALF of that.

    Half-life for half the price.
    Haha I crack me up.

Oldergames is selling this? Well...I'll try to be as objective as possible here, but you might want to read these two threads.

After selling me Super Mario's Wacky Worlds for $1,000, swearing that it was the only one and that he would copy it for no one, he offers copies for trade as "his little secret."

I've let him know, also, that my only interest in obtaining this game was to distribute it for free, and he refuses to help me copy it. First he claimed that he heard "from four different people" that I was trying to sell copies of the game for $20 each. Which is kind of weird considering that I said that to approximately zero people. He said, though, that it was cool with him, that "that's business," and then tried to ask for compensation on copies. After I paid him $1,000 fucking dollars for the original. Then he said that he wouldn't help because he thought I'd bootleg his other releases or something. Yeah. It's so worth my time to burn copies of Go.

To be fair, the only way he knows how to copy the game is using software that he wrote. I suppose it's unfair of me to ask for a copy of his software, so I'll drop that. But trying to trade off a copy behind my back like that isn't cool. When I asked for help, he even offered ME another copy in exchange for an unreleased game. That's right. I pay him $1,000 for the original, and he has the balls to ask for an unreleased game in exchange for a copy that he can make at any time of a game I ALREADY PAID HIM WAY TOO MUCH FOR.

So beware. You might pay hundreds for this thing, and then a few months later find it being sold and traded for cheap. "That's business."
