Okay Zektor, sorry about the late reply. WinISO suggests that the CD has a bad sector, and alcohol doesn't recognize the CD as existing at all. I tried the other three in the past, no luck.

I'm thinking my next step is an actual CD copying tower. I really don't want to go that far, but if nobody has further suggestions...

I have been ripping/copying for a long time, and have an array of backup programs. Others you can try:

    Disc Juggler 4
    CDRWin
    Ahead Nero

You may be able to extract it with CDRWin, but I would try WinISO first. I used it recently to extract a data track on a certain game that no other program would allow. Worked great.

There has to be another way. Have you tried PrimoDVD? I don't know very much about the CD-i format. I have ripped quite a few GD-roms via the BBA.....too bad the CD-i isn't that easy I'll keep searching for a program that may help. There has to be SOMETHING out there...

BTW: When you try to create an image of the CD in DJ, are you using a Cd-rom unit or a DVD-rom unit? THis may very well make a big difference...

You mean the actual drive the CD is in? It's a DVD-ROM.

I'll try PrimoDVD when I get home tonight.

CD-I cd's are Multimedia audio CD's. There is no protection on these discs. If cloneCD can't do it your out of luck as it reads and rights in RAW data like blindwrite. I would suggest trying cloneCD agian but right click the "multimedia audio cd" icon (when you get to that selection) and change the READ speed from MAX to 1x. Also you want to READ the CD from the cd-rw drive you will be WRITING with, not a different drive.

On a different note I've never had CloneCD tell me it couldn't burn a cd, even a bad rip. If you haven't used a different computer/burner you might do so.

I'll try enabling the 1x option, but keep in mind that this isn't a CD-i game. This is a CD-i PROTOTYPE. It uses a unique encryption method.

I'll have to try a different computer, I guess, because if I insert the CD into my CD burning drive, it freezes Windows. Seriously.

Freezes Windows? Hmm. What version of Windows are you running? If you are running anything other than WinXP, you should enable direct memory access (DMA) on all the IDE channels your cd-rom drives are on. WinXP enables DMA on them by default, while other versions of windows (9x/ME/2K) do not by default. Not enabling DMA on these drives can cause freeze ups, DVD's to play choppy..etc. If that isn't your problem, perhaps a re-load is in order

..and turn off auto-play would also be a guess..

trying a friends burner would be a good idea though.

Yep. Many times it is just the burner that is at fault. I know a few people that can't even burn the Dreamcast emulators because their burners won't support the writing of multiple sessions.

Frank, I have a professional CD copying Tower at work. If you dont have an alternative Tower at your expense, or you cant figure it out, Id be glad to give it a shot and help out. I also have a CD-I to test it on if it works

Perfect. I have someone else with a tower, but no CD-i. You're my man, then. Could you make a ton of them, if it works?

Not a problem, have a few extra spindles sitting right here. I cant 100% guarantee it will work, but might as well give it a shot. Btw, it can do 3 disks at a time.

Nice way of totally avoiding every point I made there, R.W.

    Three things:

    1. I found a guy you sold a copy to. I particularly liked his anecdote about how you told him I "call you every week, begging" for help in copying this. Kind of funny, since I dropped it after one brief email conversation.

    2. I also found a way to copy the game.

    3. Boy, Half Life for Dreamcast sure is awesome.

Just so no one takes this the wrong way, this has become my "universal idiot response system." I printed it out last night and stuck it on my neighbor's door after they wouldn't quiet their party down, even after the cops arrived. I like to think it says more than words ever could.

Since you like calling other people names, and you seem to have revived this thread out of nothing but spite, I think I'll sink to your level for a moment.

R.W, you are a pathetic troll

Seeing RedEye has found a way to copy the game (which if I remember correctly was the topic of discussion in the first place?) and I see where this old revived thread is going:

    TOPIC CLOSED.

If you guys want to continue it, take it to the Battlezone.
