Default Sega CD (Model 1) Questions

On a 1-10 Scale, What are my chances of finding a working SCD1?

And, What are the problems with SCD1s? I imagine the drive door sticking, But i'd like to know if i'm right or wrong, and if there are more problems than just that.

    Please reply.

The problems that I've seen most are:

    1. Drive belt is stretched - can cause all manner of load/unload problems.

    2. The gears that drive the laser can loose tolerance & make a small grind sound from time to time. Seems to just be a mild design flaw and all the units that I've seen that do it work fine nonetheless. Only seems to occur when some kind of reset is issued to the CD controller (at startup, sometimes during a game's initial load)

    3. Main gear gets out of time with the door/laser assembly. Causes load/unload errors, stuck CDs, etc. Easy to fix once you've done a few, difficult to explain how to fix.

OK, So there are more problems than i thought.

Are there any more? I heard that if you drop it, some ribbon cable can come loose, But i forget where i heard it.

I'm sure there are more problems.. Please explain them.

And, to those who have posted already: Thanks!
