I think the DS would suit the vert scrolling in Raiden well.

He tried to kill me with a forklift.
Raiden 3 will be released on PS2 in Japan I doubt it well be brought over to the states though :/
I still have the Raiden Project for PSX in long jewel box MINT condition always luved the Raiden arcade games.
Any new release of a Raiden game will be awesome.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!
as sabre2922 said, Raiden 3 on PS2 soon enough
That said, I'm still bummed about Raiden Fighters Evolution (Xbox) getting cancelled a few years ago. Raiden Fighters is a badass game and having online support and replay saving capabilities? Fuck. Yes. I think I still might have a few of their wallpapers sitting around in some random directory...mmm...
I really hope the port of Raiden 3 goes better than the port of Gigawing Generations. Even in its nerfed state, GWG is a blast to play, though.
TANGENT: I was just ripping Gigawing Generations a day or two ago to finally install on my hard drive and realized just how small the game was. It's nice to stumble on games that aren't even a full cd (that's more stuff I can keep on my tiny 80gb PS2 hard drive )
GC the system could use more shooter love
I didn't vote for the PS2 since it's getting Raiden III
You forgot to put a "all of the above" option
GBA would keep it nice and simple as opposed to the DS, which would try to find a way to utilize the two screens. I just wouldn't want it to be forced. The GBA lacks any really original and awesome shooters anyhow
***If you have any Transformers toys or Three Investigators books, let me know.***
What about Iridion II? That is pretty good. Really nice background gfx and if I remember right Pink (old scener) made the musicOriginally Posted by ChronoTriggaFoo
Either the DS or the Gamecube. Anything that comes out for a Nintendo system is superior to its other releases in my eyes. I voted Gamecube over DS cause I don't know how well it would play on a handheld.
but the d-pad on the Gamecube is horrible, so unless you grab an arcade stick then the game would be a pain to play. Even if they let you use the analog stick to control the ship, you'll lose a lot of percision in your movement.Originally Posted by Jumpman Jr.
and on the DS you'd have a deadzone where the bullets would disappear. If they went with a single screen, you wouldn't see enough.
Really, the only handheld ever set up to play vertical shmups properly was the Wonderswan series, but it suffered from having an unwatchable screen (way, way, way too much bluring; it made the original gameboy look good). Shame Sony didn't copy the layout for the PSP, because then maybe the games on PSP where you have to play vertically might actually be playable
I would say just about any home console would do it justice. All of the portables would have a major drawback.
I think I would go for X-box still getting the Raiden Fighters. Anyway, I don't care that much, I more like to save some bucks to get Raiden III arcade. A console version is always a bit less. I liked Raiden on Jaguar and Raiden Project for PSone anyway.
