Essentually a portable Famicom. It can play US game with an adaptor (I think it requires one). I hear the screens are kinda crappy. Other than that though it is a neat little system.

    I'd have to say no.
The screens are usually busted when they arrive.
The plastic is very low quality.
and like any pirate famicom it will crap out within a year of regular use.

@ Quazick..... Are you speaking from experience? You are speaking as if you have bought or seen multiple systems arrive with broken screens. Or is it just hearsay. I know that seems to be the story lots of people read on the internet. If you get it from a reliable source its probably not the case. When I got mine, it still had the peelable layer of plastic to protect the screen. I have had it a couple of years now and after lots of play works just fine. I even let my 5 yr old son use it, and it withstands his usage also. SO I disagree with your statement.

As mentioned, the screen could have a better resolution. It is also backlit, apparently some people don't like that, but I do, so its an FYI to help you make a decision. The adapter that comes with them is not great, only a circuit, so you may want to invest in a good one. I also bought an AC adapter for usew with mine, when you play it lots it is cheaper than batteris since it is backlit. The sound is better than I would have expected. Also with an adapter and NES games, they stick out a lot, you may not like that, and if it moves it can cause it to need to be reset. So I set up a thin support I use on the back to support NEs games when I play them, that gets rid of that issue easily, its not an issue for famicom games though.

Hope this helps you decide. After having mine a couple of years, knowing what I know, I would still buy it. Its not a perfect system but I like it. As long as you have the info to make an informed decision, hopefully you wouldn't get it and be disappointed. Some of the things I mentioned turn pepole off from it.

Yes I do speak from expierence.

I ordered one around this time last year waited a friggin' month for it to get here...

I stick in my SMB 3 jp. cart....nothing.

The LED came on but the screen wouldn't come on.

So I sent it back and this time the screen worked but it was all scratched up but that time I said "to hell with this shit" and got my money back.

That sucks. Too bad for you, its great for the import Famicom games, or the multicarts that some people have. I got mine mostly for Famicom, but playing NES on a portable is cool too.

It was being said that many of the units were used and just re-packaged. You must have been a victim of that shady practice by the sounds of it. Unfortunately for most people this is something that gets sent to you via mail. It would be nice if it was something available to people locally so they can actually see it, and avoid the hassles that you had.

Was I just one of the lucky people to get a good one? Lets hear it hear, then we can help jonjandran with his decision.

You guys are helping. I'm getting mine from the so called U.S. supplier. I e-mailed the guys that make it and they directed me to these guys in the U.S. I hope they're on the up-n-up. They are getting in a shipment this week and they're supposed to e-mail me when they come in. And no I didn't pay yet. I just wanted to know if this was a good price. i see them go on e-bay for 80-110 used and this sounded like a great deal so i figured I'd try it. I'll let you know how it goes.

a better solution is to get a used 39.99 GBA and a $50 4 meg GBA flash development card. Then run PocketNES and you can compile your own nes multicarts.. you can fit over 60 games in 4 meg..

now you have an easily replacable GBA solution that will work for 12 hours on two NiMH AA batteries, plus you will be able to run SPLAM! (c64 emu) when it's out.. and being only 4 meg you wouldn't be able to use it for many GBA games keeping you from being tempted to do naughty things
