Has anyone picked this up? I'm very intrigued by the concept of having Boggle on a touch screen, and I adore Monopoly...but I could definitely see the execution being piss poor.
For those who have it...what do you think?
I was at TRU today but didn't see it. I would have picked it up though. Anyone know the retail price on this one?
I think I paid $30 - it's on order for the wife.
I saw it for 29.99 at Best Buy, so my guess is that its a steady 29 everywhere.
Ask DocRamon, I know he's got it, maybe he's played it as well.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

HAHA...
yes i have it, and i play all my games...
monopoly... mediocre. it certainly is a nice start to the concept of a touch screen monopoly, but you can tell there's a lot of stuff to build upon. ultimately, it feels cold and slow. given the length of an average monopoly game, not sure how anyone could stick with this one from start to finish.
boggle... i like word games, so i'm biased. to me, boggle has always been a fun game, and the touch screen version goes very smooth. i enjoy this one. it's almost just like playing a puzzle game and not a "board" game. still, the overall product feels cheap. not that it needs to be fleshed out much. it's just boggle. but there are areas for small amounts of improvement.
yahtzee... very similar to boggle. the touch screen control works well, making it very similar to playing the actual board game. but it does feel almost like a flash game and not a final retail product. areas for polish, but pretty solid overall.
battleship... it had never really occurred to me until i began playing, but battleship is the perfect game for the DS, since the battleship board is built in a similar style. some of the audio and visual cues letting you know that you've hit a ship, what ship you've hit, etc. are a bit confusing. and again, since the actual board game isn't really impressive, there isn't much innovation in terms of layout or look. but out of the 4 games in this compiliation, this one's the winner simply for the "there's no reason to pull out the board game again" factor. it's a near replica of the board game.
so... overall... 3/4 games are pretty fun, but none of it is very impressive. it's all average. worth buying? it would have been better priced at $20 like the gba versions. up to you if $10 is worth waiting for a price drop or sale.
can you play 2 player battleship? It seems like it should but I have to ask since every previous videogame battleship I've had is only one player.
all 4 games have multiplayer... boggle and battleship are single card, monopoly and yahtzee and multicard.
I still would get it mainly for battleship and monopoly
even if the monopoly is mediocre it's still really tempting.
