Default Crazy Question--How to Start Virtua Cop on Sega Saturn

Yes, just like the title says, I can't start the game. I just got the game. I have the control pad as well as the gun hooked up. I get to this screen that looks like the buttons on a DVD/CD player where there's a stop, play, skip forward etc. But when I press play it plays the soundtrack or something. I've tried the other buttons but am at a lost. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.

in the saturn system menu, where you see the play button, i believe the very top left button is what you need to choose to load games...

i only played my saturn once (never got the time to get into it), but i believe that is what i did...

Tried that, and it isn't it. It's a bunch of numbers that correspond to the tracks I believe. I've tried all of them. Geez, who would have thought it would be complicated to start a game.

Sounds like its reading it as a audio cd instead of a game cd.

    Is it scratched?

Well I've seen better CDs. Lets put it that way. But I have CDs that look worse that still work.

Well apparently it is the game. I had another copy of Virtua Cop because when I bought the gun it came with a copy of the game so I had 2 and that one works. So I'll have to return the other one. Anyway, I think now the gun doesn't work. Geez!!! I finally figure out it's the game and bam now it's the gun. When I shoot at the screen it just flashes white for like a nanosecond but nothing happens so I'm guessing it's something wrong with the gun right. If anyone out there is familiar with this game, I'd appreciate some help.

The first problem sounds very much like a disc problem to me.

The screen you describe is the screen that the Saturn defaults to when you start it without a disc in, or with a disc that it can't read data from (i.e. a music disc, a damaged disc or an import disc).

Check that the game disc you have is not an import - but if, as you say, it is in poor condition, I would imagine it is just that it is scratched badly.

Like you say, I have had many Saturn games that are scratched to hell but still work - but if there is one scratch in the wrong place that is all that it needs to ruin it.

If the game fires up, there's a button on the gun you need to press to start the game.

Uhh, you're right. I'm so retarded. I just noticed the start button on the left side of the barrel. I pressed it , and the darn thing worked.
