Ok I'm a big fan of DDR and Guitar Hero. Will beatmania be a a fun game to me? I always thought this game looked interesting.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!
Absolutely. The control and gameplay are about as straight forward as you can get. The problem with IIDX is that since Beatmania has been around since 1997 or so, the series has gotten progressively tougher, to the point where the game would just kick a new player right in the fucking face. But KOA made a smart move: US Beatmania is actually the original 5-key Beatmania and the current 7-key Beatmania IIDX, with separate song lists from both series. So you'll be able to cut your teeth on stuff like Theme of Metal Gear Solid and Hunting For You before jumping into anything that will totally kick your ass (V, Colors, etc.)

The "beatmania" songs are 5-key, and the "beatmania IIDX" songs are 7-key.
so the us game will have 5 and 7 keys?cool
chuck norris roundhouse kicked someone so hard his foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and killed amelia earhart while she was over the pacific ocean
Does it also come with the cool turntable-keyboard controller like it was released on the PS1 in Europe?
It should include the controller. The IIDX controller is also worlds better than the UK Beatmania controller, and apparently they're also making improvements over the Japanese model to prevent things like sticking keys.Originally Posted by yok-dfa

Believe me, for the harder songs, you're going to need to use 2 hands on the keys, and "pinky scratch" with whichever hand is nearest the turntable. I still can't even clear V with one hand, but I can AAA it with two. Heh.
Ok thanks guys. Glad to see people like it and I won't be wasting money.
