(I got this in my email and I thought I should pass it around. I have no connection with them)

Hello all, and welcome to another edition of the Happy Fun Box update. We've
got a lot to report this time, so here goes...

First and foremost, if you have written to us and have not gotten a
response, don't despair. The volume of mail we've been handling (not to
mention both of us have a life outside of this project) has prevented us
from giving everyone the response we'd like. We apologize for not getting
back to you, but hopefully this email will cover some of the questions
people have had. This info will also be going into the FAQ on the webpage,
but since you took the time to get added to the email list you get to read
it first.

Secondly, thanks to all who wrote in offering solutions to our cable
problem. Read on to find out our current resolution.

1) How will you be selling these adapter kits?
After much, much deliberation on this subject we have decided to use eBay as
the vehicle to sell our adapter kits. We will be doing a fixed price sale
with a certain quantity available(100), so it won't be an auction. While
there may be some gripes with this, it offers a number of benefits that
can't be ignored.
a)It offers you, the buyer, a degree of protection in your purchase.
b)It offers us a convenient and quick way to sell our items with some
protection as well.
c)We got tired of trying to come up with an SQL server, database designer,
and enough space and bandwidth to host a sales website. Bleh.
If you don't have an eBay account set up, GET ONE.

2) How much will they cost?
We will be charging $21 plus $6 shipping (all prices US dollars). Shipping
will be via US Postal Service Priority Mail with insurance and delivery
confirmation. PayPal is still our preferred method of payment, but we will
accept money orders if we gotta. Outside of the States will be determined on
a case by case basis.

3) Why did you choose USPS?
They were the only carrier with a fixed price to anywhere in the US with
delivery confirmation. Plus priority mail is guaranteed 2-3 day delivery,
and they're pretty consistent.

4) When the ##^%@#$ can I order these things? I'm getting tired of waiting.
Trust me, I'm getting tired of waiting too. We have all components ready for
the except one now- we received the wrong speed crystals in our last order.
If you don't know what crystals are, don't worry, just know that we have to
have the right ones for the adapter to work. We're hoping to have them by
the end of the week, and the sale will be posted on eBay over the weekend.
WE HOPE. If the crystals don't show up this week, we WILL SELL NEXT WEEK.
Cross our hearts and hope to die.

4a) How many will be available at launch?
We are planning on having 100 kits for sale initially. Please remember that
others want to order too, so try not to order more than you need during this
first offering. More will be available soon after the first shipment.

5) How will I know when the sale has started?
I'll email everyone a warning ahead of time and then send a link to the sale
on eBay. This will only be available to those on the mailing list for the
first day. It looks like we will sell out on the first day easily.

6) When will more adapter kits be available?
Once we have received payments and gotten the first orders shipped out,
we'll dump the profit back into the next batch. Could be at least a week
after the first sale, probably a week and a half.

7) What tools will I need to assemble the kit?
Ideally, you will need a soldering iron and solder, a screwdriver, something
to strip 24 gauge wires with (while scissors work, we suggest actual
strippers. Wire strippers, that is), and a large file or ideally a Dremel
tool. Some sort of "helping hands", the little alligator clips on a heavy
base to hold a soldering project, will also be immensely helpful.

8) How will I get the instructions?
We will make the instructions available for download by Friday 2/14 in PDF
format, just in time to share them with your sweetheart. You will need
Acrobat Reader to open them.

9) I want to resell the adapters once I build them. How should I do that?
We have distilled the reseller rules into a glistening stream of clarity, so
easy to understand that even a monkey can grasp them with little to no
outside help.
Rule #1 - If you resell our kit in an assembled form, you must provide a
link to our site (http://www.pantsofevilgamers.com/kb) and mention our names
as the designers. Those names, by the way, are Eric Konizer and Adam Cook.
Even if you think you can build a better mousetrap and redesign the thing,
if you use our programmed microcontroller you must still give us props.
Rule # 2 - DO NOT STEAL OUR CODE! We're not trying to be asses, but we will
pursue legal action if you try to dump our copyrighted code and use it for
resale. Come on, we worked hard to make this stuff.

10) What about those cables you guys needed?
We found a wholesale distributor that sold another brand of cable for
cheaper. We plan to continue purchasing from them for the time being.

11) I just want to buy certain components from you, not a whole kit.
For this first offering and possibly for the future, we're only selling
whole kits. We get a discount for ordering the larger amounts, so that's how
we have to do it for now.

I hope this gives you guys some hope and renewed confidence. I'll be
updating the site with this info soon. Also keep your eyes open for our
short list of keyboard compatibility- that should go up soon.

Nite folks...I've got more work to do yet.

-Adam

I'm defiantly going to get one of those. I sure don't want to shell out $100 for an import that is way too small for my hand. :P
