Default Recommend me some DOS/Win95/98 games!

I recently got my hands on an older laptop with Win 98 and can now finally play a few of my XP-incompatible games properly (Magic the Gathering, World of Xeen, and Wizardry Archives to be specific).

Anyhoo, now that the world of DOS is open to me please recommend some games that would be worth my time searching ebay/garage sales for. I've pretty much downloaded everything at the various "abandonware" sites, but if there's any commercial games I'm missing out on I'd appreciate knowing what they are.

    (All genres are welcome, btw.)

The Incredible Machine series is not to be missed. It was by Sierra, each level you have an objective to complete using an assortment of machine bits (springs, gears, hamster wheels, baloons). Very unique puzzle game.

On this same note does anyone know where I can get a copy of Flesh Feast by Sega (pc only top down zombie game). I have played the demo more times than I can count.

Lots of good games listed and honestly, I'm hard pressed to think of that many more. I do not know if they are 98 and older only, but.....

Hero's of Might and Magic (all of em)
All 3 Fallout games (yes, tactics included)
    7th guest/11th hour
Eye of the Beholder? (archive release much like wizardry)

Funny how you make finding a laptop with 98 sound like you found an oddy2 or a 2600. I say it's funny because that's the same OS I currently use! Maybe one day I'll splurge and get me a laptop with 98 as well. Hell, maybe I'll realy go wild and buy one with ME! Maybe not though....

    One Must Fall 2097

Just make sure you crank the speed way down since the game doesn't have a frame limiter.

Almost any of the old Sierra On-Line graphical adventures... I'll recommend in particular the Quest for Glory series.

    Damn straight!
Stunts is also good, like the original version of Trackmania Sunrise, oh and...

The Last Express. It had problems in XP if I remember correctly.

I'll list a few that others haven't posted.

    Descent 1, 2, 3
    Cyberia 1, 2
    X-Wing
    Mechwarrior games
    Heretic 1, 2
    Rune
Wolf 3D (Be sure to grab it with the map editor)
    Total Annihiliation

And if you want, pick up the MS entertainment pack that came for Win3.1x. It's fun to play on older compys.

I second that, easily my favorite PC series.
I go online sometimes, but ... everyone's spelling is really bad, and it's ... depressing.

I played the hell out of One Must Fall.

There were so many great games.

    Wing Commander (and the sequels)
    X-wing, Tie Fighter etc
Some of the old Test Drive Games
M1A1 Abrams Battle Tank (or something like that)
    THQ Attack Chopper
    Civilization 1
Some of the old adventure games from Sierra Online.
Duke 3d and some of it's related games like Shadow Warrior
    Carmageddon

just want to add FX fighter, privateer, overloard, conan the cimirian, haloween harry, strike commander, starcontrol 2, blade runner, startrek judgement rites to the already long list
The human operates out of complex superiority demands, self -affirming through ritual, insiting upon a rational need to learn, striving for self-imposed goals, manipulating his environment while he denies his own adaptive abilities, never fully satisfied.

If you want to go really old school, there was a game I played a LONG time ago. It was called "The Shadows of Yserbius". It was a dungeon crawling game that was also part of a gaming network...It might have been the Imagination Network. Any help anyone? Goodness though, when I was little, that game owned.

Some of these may have already been mentioned, but here's my list:

One Must Fall 2097 (Great 1-on-1 fighter with mechs)
Traffic Department 2192 (Overhead view 360 shooter with great storyline)
God of Thunder (Puzzle game that resembles Zelda a bit)
Ultima IV, V, VI, VII part 1 and 2 (Best RPG series ever)
Wasteland (Classic RPG, Fallout is it's successor)
The Dark Heart of Uukrul (Ingenious RPG that no one has ever heard of)
    Dungeon Master (Another classic RPG)
Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 (Both good dungeon crawls with very impressive (for their time) 3D environments)
System Shock 1 & 2 (Great cyberpunk style games)

Almost recommended this myself. I played the hell out of Fuji Golf and Jezzball (a sort of cross between Breakout and Surround - very addictive), and my wife still regularly plays Chip's Challenge.
