Default screenshots of triple LCD screens made for 3D gaming

Not really a new thing, I remember these around in the 90's for large scale simulation type gaming. But a look at the screenshots of your favorite PC game running on them is neeto-mesketo.

Not a Matrox 3D card lover in this current market but for World of Warcraft, this extra side view would help on raids.

Matrox isnt exactly new I remember reading about them in 2002. I remember they made a card competing with the Geforce 4 and I haven't heard anything from them since. Good to see them back now, I envy anyone that has a setup like that. Imagine that with 3 30 inch Dells

It's good to see now that it is a stand alone device so you don't need a whole new card, but still that must take all hell of a system.

Imagine 3 21" CRTs? That'd be enough to heat your entire house

Damn, that sure would be sweet if I had money coming out of my ass... and room on my desk for three 19" monitors!

I saw something like that at the Virginia Air & Space Mueseum once, for a demo of a flight simulator. And I think that NASA uses things like that for their space shuttle.

Also, a new technology allows a LCD-ish screen to be bent in any way needed.

Can you imagine if you could see the game world around you in EQ2?

The PC I used at an old job back in 1997 had a Matrox card in it. Matrox is not new at all.

I don't even want to think about what it would cost me to have a system like this. If it performs well I could see it being worth it, especially since I have been gaming on my PC more and more. The problem would be convincing my wife that I need a display setup for my PC that cost more than our Toshiba HDTV. That just isn't going to happen.

Must be horrible without latest gear.. 2 7900 GTXs in SLI might cut it though.

I emailed a friend to see more about this. The frame rate is only as good as your current video card split into 1/3's. He said the newest games ran like a slide show.

The nice thing here is, games are starting to support some really interesting resolutions and camera angles.

    That really deserves this smiley:

Yeah I would love to play Counter-Strike Source w/that setup. Someone mentioned the dell 30", I was looking at getting one of those and that monitor by itself requires 2 DVI outputs. The power it needed from video combined with price turned me off.

I wonder how a setup with 2 widescreen lcds at 20" would look. That would allow the frame rates to still be really good with an sli setup (just with the 7600 that is going for $199 right now) and would reduce the cost a lot. I was going to ditch my 20" inch widescreen for a 24", but maybe I should just buy another 20" instead...

wow thanks for the link, he's got the setup I was thinking about, two 24"s rather than two 20"s... I'll have to read through and see what he says about framerates, but I would think sli w/7600's and two 20s would be still be better than sli w/7900s and two 24s, and the cost of two 24s and two 7900s, geez...
