    Default Isometric style games

After having a good long blast on Viewpoint, I have a thirst for more games with an isometric style.

I remember there were a couple of GB games I borrowed from a friend years ago. I have no idea of the games' names, but they were similar to Solstice on the NES.

So can anyone recommend any good isometric games? Mainly platform style, but whatever.

EDIT: Realised that a lot of the 'Tactics' SRPGs use this view. And so does the quality Snake Rattle n' Roll.

What I'm looking for is games specifically like Solstice: room floating in space style.

    Well, there's always:

    Landstalker (Genesis)
    Lady Stalker (SFC)
    Dark Savior (Saturn)
    The Immortal (NES/Genesis)
    Equinox (SNES)
    Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis/Saturn)

    I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few.

Altered Space: A 3-D Alien Adventure for the original Gameboy.

Also Mystic Towers for the PC is right up your alley, probably can find it on an abandonware site.

And that would be the GB game I borrowed all those years ago. Nice one.

Equinox looks cool too. Pity I don't have a SNES. Mmmm, SuperFamicom Jr. Must. Resist. Urge.

It's a pity this style of game seems to have died out with the advent of 'true 3D'. Yeah, the games are flawed; it can be hard to judge jumps and you loose your character behind things. But still, I find the isometric platform style a unique and intruiging game style.

The trilogy of classic isometric games from Bernie Drummond:

    Batman (Spectrum)
    Head Over Heels (Spectrum/C64)
    Monster Max (Gameboy)

HoH is available in new super colourful port-o-form on the PC and bloody good it is too. Can't remember the link offhand, can't be hard to find.

And then there's Ultimate's (aka Rare) set of games for the Spectrum: Knightlore, Alien 8, Nightshade, Gunfright.

And finally Equinox and Solstice on the SNES by Software Creations (which means gorgeous Tim Follin music).

One of the more obscure classic PC games (VERY long, and pretty good) is Darkspyre II: The Summoning.

    http://www.jaelus.com/thesummoning/right.htm

I am not certain whether or not this can be downloaded from the Underdogs.

EDIT: Looks like it is available, and it looks like The Underdogs is back in business.

    Light Crusader.

And some Amiga game I played years ago set on a sunken ship, or maybe submarine. Can't remember much about it, but the main character wore one of those big old divers helmets.

Although I can't think of any right now that aren't already listed these are some fun games. And yes it stinks they don't do produce more games with this feature. I of course prefer the 2-D isometric view to make it appear 3-D over pure 3-D driven games. It just feels like more goes into details and can be done to 2-D sprites over 3-D models.

    Just recalled:
Command & Conquer (N64) has an ISO view of 3-D rendered environment and charaters. I'm not sure how many people liked the game but it's pretty fun.

Equinox gets my vote - that game was fantastic.

I used to love the Equinox ads that showed someone playing the game for so long that they'd actualyl died and their grandson had to continue the game for them

Isolated Warrior on the NES wasn't half bad. It always stuck out to me because of the isometric view.

Shadowrun on the SNES is like that as well.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

Hey, what's up with forgetting about the Crusader series?
    -Crusader: No Remorse
    -Crusader: No Regret

I'll forgive you for missing out on these:
    -Steam Gear Mash (Saturn)

    -Energy Breaker (Super Famicom)
Seriously though, I'm looking to buy this if you have it and wanna give it up. Landstalker-type play, booya! (Couldn't find a good picture, but check out Gamengai.com for box shots.)

-Juka and the Monophonic Menace (Gameboy Advance)
Not out yet... but looks to be Landstalker-ish.

Props to the kids mentioning the Climax Graphics games!

The Crusader games definitely need a revival. No remorse was probably one of my favourite PC games.
