    Default Got Pippin?

Wow, I FINALLY scored my first Bandai Pippin game. I've had the system for well over a year!

The downside, it's SEALED, and it's SD GUNDAM which, among the already very scarce Pippin library, is probably the scarcest. So, like a fine aged wine, this won't get opened unless there's a special occasion. But I thought I'd at least share the packaging with you. Until now, I'd never even SEEN a Pippin game. Hopefully this helps one of you identify one a little more easily in future.

So does anyone collect for this thing? I've actually got some very cool Pippin "stuff", just NO software!

Images don't seem to be working, mang.

EDIT: Now they do! Hooray! Looks like a PC game box, as opposed to a streamlined jewelcase or something.

Yeah, the box itself is very PC-like. It's about the same height and width as a DVD case but as thick as two NES boxes.

Looking at the back of the box, I can see that it was 'Made with Macromedia.' Any idea what this suggests? A Director/Shockwave/Flash program?? Then there's the Quicktime and Mac associations, interesting system. I remember reading a very terse blurb about it in publications at the time it was pending release, with a picture of a white system. The controller has a trackball in it, doesn't it?

I never understood the "It's sealed so I'm not going to open it" mentality. Unless you're planning on trading or selling it, what difference does it make whether you open it or not? You might as well play with it.

I agree with Tempest here - I thought DP that you were a gamer firstly and foremost?

    Yeah no kidding!

It's kililng me. I've never kept a sealed game before - and that's why I put this post out here, hoping someone else has this or others so I can keep this one as is. I'm just thinking about how much it would suck if I opened it up and it turns out to be complete shit (which I would bet on) and devalued the first and maybe only Pippin game I ever see.

You see, in this case, on a system where I own just ONE game, I'm NOT a gamer before I'm a collecter. This is definitely being held as a museum piece for now.

And you're right Matt, I never understood that mentality either. I normally open everything without even thinking about it, just take a look at my collection!

@DP, I'm glad the game arrived safely (yes it was I who sent it to you) About the box; they usually doesn't come this was. They "always" come in plastic boxed ala DC with a fat manual. I also have Gundam Wars that has the same size as yours. I could be wrong but I think these games are for the Power mac more than the Pippin, (more computer style box) although it says Pippin all over. The others I was referring to only has the Pippin logo.

I'd guess Director. I don't think Shockwave and Flash were around in 1997.

I'd love to take a look at the Lingo code used for it though!
