i know that the DC has a VGA fanout box available, but how come the PS2 and Xbox do not?
(as a side question- what resolution does the Dreamcast output when used directly with the VGA box? is it higher than 480p as i suspect?)
apparently the PS2 must have some kind of attachment like this, since i see them hooked up to computer monitors in EB all the time (unless the monitors accept a component video signal, if they do then i guess that answers my question).
the reason i ask is i'd prefer to run the ps2 straight into a computer monitor. right now im running its component output into a ISCAN pro progressive scan scaler so I can hook it up to my monitor.
doing this with the xbox would be foolish, since it always outputs at least a 480 line progressive signal anyway- with 720p and 1080i on some games.
using the I-SCAN provides quite acceptable picture quality (just ask POG), but there are still "jaggies" on extreme fine detail, because the signal isn't going into the monitor straight.
do they even make computer monitors with component inputs?
does anyone know what the stores use when they hook them up to computer monitors?
damn complicated video displays.
