    no spoilers please!!

I have 2 actually Bard's Tale I was the most satisfying that game killed so much time and FF III because of the story..

Let's see . . . I have soft spot for the endings of Final Fantasy II and III (or IV and VI, if you like), just because I was a kid at the time, and I had yet to view my video games with any cynicism. Lufia II also ended well, and on a different note than other RPGs.

But even when I was older, Final Fantasy VII's finale made an impact on me, Xenogears also had a memorable ending (even with the second disc being rushed), and so did Vagrant Story. Most recently, Final Fantasy X was satisfying at its close, and Suikoden III's semi-hidden ending was a nice extra.

I can think of more, but I'll stop now.

I enjoy the ending to Panzer Dragoon Saga. The whole story is brilliantly done, but the ending is especially nice. Not to spoil anything, but it not a simple "good triumphs over evil" ending, but one that is a little more grey and open to interpretation.

For me it's Lunar, FF4 & 6 also. Lufia 2's ending was quite touching and emotional..even almost made me sad too. Secret of Mana, although not a true rpg, was good too.

Golvellius: Valley of Doom on the Sega Master SYstem isn't QUITE an RPG, more adventure in the style of Zelda, but if you consider that an RPG than it was the first one I beat, so the ending to that has a soft spot in my heart.

As for the game with the best thought out/fitting/etc ending... I just don't know...

What he said, I agree with every single word except the FFX part.
