Im looking to get a few carts like this, I plan to use the casing for a conversion through nesreproductions.com for a custom job. I believe these are brazilian in origin.
Are they hard to get a hold of?

I think most Brazilian pirates have a slightly different shaped NES cart. You should look for NES games from Asia...the pirated ones from there are usually 99% identical to the original NES cart but then in different colors.
Example of black pirated Asian cart:

I'm always looking for new boxed NES accessories. If you've got any for sale, shoot me a PM!
Perfect for what I need, how did you find it though? My ebay searches are less than productive, even searching the Asian regions for "NES".
i've a handfull of them, and they are brazilian, try looking up "gradient" and you might find a few (that was the main company that did them.
I wouldn't rely solely on ebay for pirate carts. They pull a ton of auctions, including mine, when I tried selling a few of my doubles last holiday season...they were very subtlely listed too... not like I said "ILLEGAL PIRATE CART!!!!!!" I've also added a few of them from other sellers to my watch list, only to have them pulled and dissappear into oblivion forever.

Sweet idea... well, what are you going to do a reproduction of?
Hey.. does Nintendo grant amnesty to nesreproductions.com or what? I see topics about it on the official Nintendo message boards... and there are legions of creepy fanboys who will snitch in letters to NOA.... The mods just delete these posts and nothing ever comes of it. Nintendo knows aobut the service... but have they taken any steps to shut it down?
The mods or people who mod the forum at nintendo probably think its more trouble to report to someone then to delete the topic. Is that simple. Not that honest reproductions are bad.Originally Posted by BocoDragon
Interestingly enough, the gold Zelda carts are really just painted black carts. My Adventures of Link cart paint is faded away and could be turned black if you rub all the paint away. I've considered doing so and then selling it as a "super rare" black cart on e-bay, but it just seems like too much trouble.
I guess that wasn't very interesting at all.
Im having VS Castlevania put onto a regular NES cartridge. The easiest way to get it working is to perform some hacking on a regular CV1 NES ROM for title screen, palette, time and damage since the levels are oterhwise identical.Originally Posted by BocoDragon
The black cartridge casing just seemed to suit it nicely.
Ill probably go standard gray when I put translated Boku Dracula kun onto a cart.
Can someone do a VS Super Mario Bros. Hack for Super Mario Bros. on the NES, I know it's just Mixed Levels between this & the Japanses version & power-ups are moved
Oh, that would be so sweet. Emulators only do so much (though playing it on the Dreamcase comes very close).Originally Posted by MarioMania
