    Default Gungrave - Kick Their...

I just got Gungrave (PS2) from Target today for $15, and I have to say I can't stop playing it! This game is like a cross between Devil May Cry and the Spawn Dreamcast game. Continuous mayhem - like it says on the box: Kick Their Ass!

I hate the fact that you can't aim independently, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting to see the story play out. I also love the art style even though I am not a fan of anime. I hope that Capcom's Killer 7 plays like this game.

Anybody else tried this game and can sing its praises?

It had A LOT of potential and I was really looking forward to it... but I was disappointed in the end.

I really thought that it wasn't that well programmed by Sega. The slowdown, the flashing... ugh. It had a lot of style and could have been great, but it doesn't compare to the polished look that Devil May Cry has. I think that the game was rushed. It's also too short. The loading times were maddening too. Sound... bloody awful.

    I'd give it a 7 - 7.5 / 10. But for $15.. I would be happy too. I paid full for it.

Actually, Gungrave was programmed by the development houses of Positron and Ikusabune. Sega may have handled other aspects of the production, but they didn't code or design it.

You know, I rated the game a 7 out of 10 myself, but I intended it as decent praise. Even though there's not much thought or length to Gungrave, the sheer destruction of it all is loads of fun, and I can't get enough of Yasuhiro Nightow's art. I suppose it's not worth fifty bucks, but I'll take it for thirty.

I'm looking forward to the Gungrave TV series, which Nightow is supposedly creating with Madhouse (aka the guys who did Ninja Scroll, Reign, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, etc.)

Anybody know how to beat the boss that looks like a gorilla combined with a robot? He drops these weights and I keep trying to dodge them, but they're unescapable!
