Default Is there an easy way to sort ROMS?

Just asking. I got CrMamePro, but all that does is check to see if your roms are correct or not. I'm looking for an easy way to remove quiz, majhong, clone, and games that won't run on my system. Loading a complete set of roms is easier than picking what you want, but it's eating up hard drive space and I've just got too much crap on there to look through when I frie up MAME.

    Help, anyone?

I know there are some popular frontends/fanbuilds that can appropriately categorize everything. Unfortunately, their names escape me currently.

I know I saw someone post a simple batch file in the official Mame forum to delete quiz and mahjong games awhile back, but I don't know of any rom manager that does this at this time. If HD space is an issue, I would advise burning your roms from A-Z on cd-rs (it'll take about 10 without CHD files) and loading them off the cd's when needed, instead of leaving them on the HD. If you have a 12x or better CD-rom drive, the load times are minimal (at least on this end).

I didn't even think about running off the disc. That's a good idea!

Just remember, if you do an A-Z romset of cd's, to include the neogeo.zip (Neogeo BIOS) on each disc, or you will run into problems with Mame asking you for that BIOS any time you try to load a Neogeo game. Same with other BIOS files. Just put a copy of each on each one of the cd's you make. Thats all.

Heh, I settled on a better solution, 120GB Maxor HD, $80 @ CompUSA after rebate!

A little bump - to see if anybody remembers the front ends in question. Or if there is perhaps a filter trick I can use in MAME32 I haven't thought of. I'm not concerned about space really (I've got my ROMs on a DVD) - I'd just like to look at a list of games that doesn't include Mahjong...

I figured out a bit of a trick that might help you Jason. First off, I'm running the newest Emuloader frontend on MAME. It gives you the option to use a category.dat file which gives you game genre information similar to that listed at mame.dk. You can click on the category bar and organize all the titles by genre, so at least you can skip over the majhong and quiz games.

I'm sure there's a way to filter them out, but I haven't figured it out yet.
