In a blatant ripoff and reversal of Alex's topic, anyone have a game that you think sucks, but everyone else raves about, and you just can't understand the appeal?

I, Garland, shall knock you all down!
Metroid, NES: Long, hard, boring.
Donkey Kong Country.
Monkeys flinging barrels. For some reason, I never saw the charm.
The Resident Evil series. Bad control, retarded puzzles, and lack of "fear factor" for a supposed horror game. Boo.

I can agree at least with this one. I hate the control in this series so much. I just can't get into it...Originally Posted by jaydubnb

Marvel vs Capcom 2: I just don't like it. I don't like "assists", I don't like supers that encompass the entire screen, I don't like the chain combos, I don't like the "die while you wait" 65+ hit air combos and I don't like a ridiculously unbalanced fighting game.
Gran Tourismo series: I hate sims of any kind, I find them boring. The game has little sense of speed, anal-retentive control, AI that will demolish you if you make a single mistake. I'll take Rallisport, Sega Rally, F-Zero X or WipeOut over any GT game in a hot minute.
Gran Turismo series. People rant about how realistic it is, if I want to drive realistically I'll go get in my car. I want to jump ramps, have insane crashes, and fly around curves at breakneck speeds.
Oh, I almost forgot, Counter Strikest because this game started that style of gameplay people act like it's the best ever. Thank goodness there is a much better game out now, Battlefield 1942.
just about any first person shooter, starting with Doom and continuing with Unreal Tournament, etc. I guess the only one I ever liked was Wolfenstein 3D.
Run around a dimly lit space station or what have you and shoot baddies. Find a better gun and repeat. Boring and in addition, they always made me kinda nauseus.
oh, and Tetris. WTF is the big deal? This game sucks.
sorry if I offended anyone
Super Mario Sunshine. I don't even want to talk about it.
Skies of Arcadia (DC/GC) Everyone seems to love this one, but after 20 hours of play, I just found it vapid, tedious, and saccharine. I swear I'm going to finish it one of these days, to make sure that my hate is justified.
Kidfenris.com: Never Updated.
Final Fantasy 7 and Xenogears. Now, I'm a huge square fanboy, I even like their "misses" (Saga Frontier, Threads of Fate), but I put these games down constanly.
I finished FF7, and it wasn't a BAD rpg, but it's definitely one of the worst, if not THE worst of the FF series.
Xenogears I couldn't even FINISH, and I bought it new for like, $60. The combat was innovative, but I never got to DO any of it. Why would the game designers think I want to be stuck in a huge multiscreen town talking to everyone and randomly searching for the right person for like, two hours? By the time I finally find them, I forget what was going on in the story.
Animal Crossing. I got the game but I just can't "get" into the game.
Another day, another dollar... wake me when it's payday.
still playing games
Everquest. Or for this fact any MMORPG that forces you to pay a monthly fee. I just don't get it. I don't get what they are paying for? $10 a month, $120 a year for something that the publisher can turn off at will. At least when I spend $120 on games I have $120 worth of games to show for it.
Two words: "Yar's Revenge." While I admire the many facets of gameplay, I never got into it. And I seem to be the only one. Everyone raves about it, but I just find it boring and shallow.
And I'm an army of one on this. I usually get yelled at whenever I voice this opinion. *Sigh*. And I LOVE ET and Raiders, so it's not HSW's fault. I just never enjoyed Yar's....
Still Around...Still Gamin'...
Gran Turismo for me- sure it looks pretty but the series never really did anything for me. I prefer the faster racing games.
Never quite got into the Resident Evil series either and don't get me started on FF8.

I am gonna get a beating for this , but i never liked Super Metroid. I just could't understand the fun in walking down empty hallways and looking for stuff. I would just walk around, listening to errie music, and get nothing accomplished. It looks like a very well made game, but i could just never get into it.
I have to agree with Gran turismo as well. I liked the quote about the realism. If i want realism, I''ll get into my car. When i play a game, I want to smah crap up. I want big explosions. I want to do all the things I WISH I could do when i'm in my car ( i.e. take out a bazooka and blow away the pokey car infront of me)
I also have to agree with resident evil series. Firt off, I wanted to run around and kill a bunch of zombies. The fact that your ammo is limited and you are supposed to try to avoid the zombies did not appeal to me. The crazy controls made it worse. Once again, very well made games, just not games for me.
No offense, but i would rather play mine sweeper on my PC then play resident evil, gran turismo, or super metroid. At least mine sweeper has something to do with death and destruction.

No, I'm Mr. Big Lucky Flavor!
I agree with Yar's Revenge. I was never able to enjoy it, too flashy, I feel like I'm going to have an epileptic seizure while playing it. I also agree that E.T. is fun, although it gets me SO MAD when I'm patiently waiting for the ship and that goddamned agent keeps walking on the screeen ARGH!
In the modern genre...Silent Hill 2. Playing this game is like watching paint dry. Find a locked area. Go to another area to find key. Return to previous area. Unlock door. Find another locked area. Rinse and repeat. And in between, NOTHING HAPPENS! Oh, the occasional zombie jumps out, which you can kill in two seconds. Yawn.
Also...REZ. Boring and repetitive.
I, Garland, shall knock you all down!
Any Business Sim. or even sims like SimCity and SimAnt.
When is a game NOT a game? When it's WORK.
I have Pizza Tycoon on the PC, and I DO like that one (then again I want to be a chef and Pizza is my favorite food, and If I can get in on organized crime I'm in... almost had a chance with workin the Hell's Angels... I think... anyway). But even that one, aside from buying/renting new establishments, creating new pizzas (not ones' YOU like by the way, but ones the CPU likes... > ) and re-decorating, just the maintenece of owning a restaurant is not my idea of a GAME. or FUN. It may be rewarding, but only in real life...
