Default Saturn video connection questions--did they make S-video?

I was able to pick up Galactic Attack this past weekend complete for $5 (I know, a helluva steal) and hooked up my Saturn to my 50" HD via RF. Wow, does it looks terrible.

What is the top video connection I can buy for my Saturn? I would imagine its likely S-video. If it is, does anyone have a link to where I can buy a Saturn S-video cable?

Or, is there a modern compatible component cable for the Saturn?

Anything has got to be better than the RF.

    Saturn can't output Component.

You can find Saturn S-Video cables on the net.

Did that include shipping? Also, how much better does it look?

Should be a lot better than Composite.

I've done the differences between Composite and S-Video on a PSX, Neo-Geo CD, and Genesis/SegaCD. Very good difference and some graphical detail that wasn't be able to see on Composite.

I'm suprise HDTVs got a RF slot in the back.

Its not an RF slot---its just a coax jack. Every TV in the US has it--HD or not!

    Default Uh...

Saturn can also do RGB on the off chance your set has and RGB input. You would probably have to have a custom cable built.

For me it is dramtically superior; it gives the Saturn an arcade-like feel that other systems do not have.

And the RGB talk continues. I have a 50" Sony HD, and can't do RGB. Is there a simple way to get this apparently superior connection? S-Video seems like the easiest option as of now.

Not only it's a good option, it's the best way to go.

Getting your Saturn to do RGB is a pain to being with. Also you must find a monitor that supports RGB (very few, mostly small computer monitors). I could be wrong, but it's a lot of hassle and money to get RGB.

No. I can't remember what shipping was, I bought a copule of games at the same time but it was reasonable.

Much better is the second answer. Well worth it.

Yes it is a hassle. You would need to spend a couple hundred on an XRGB. You might be able to order cables from overseas that would work. Only suggested it becuase some HDTV's have RGB inputs that 'could' work.

Go with S-Video, it's simple enough; many retro systems simply will never look good on a big screen, but anything beats RF.

to use RGB you need the rather expensive RGB->Component(YUV) transcoder to convert it into the YUV signal that your fancy HDTV can understand.

Of coz in the countries where RGB is common this isn't much of problem but apart from Europe not many countries have TV with RGB input at the back...
