Default Were any of the following Wii games released in the U.S. with monolingual packaging?

    1) Excite Turck
    2) Super Paper Mario
    3) Wii Play

All the ones I have seen have trilingual packaging (English, French, Spanish).

Do versions with English only packaging/manuals exist?

I'm pretty sure the U.S. version of Zelda: Twilight Princess had just English on the cover. I know the Canadian one had both French and English.

Yes, that one I know about.

The reason I am asking is that I am in Canada, where unfortunately all 1st party Nintendo games and games published by Nintendo have UNREMOVABLE bilingual packaging (English and French). All other games either don't have bilingual packaging or have the removable kind.

I prefer monolingual packaging for the esthetics so I buy all 1st party Nintendo games and games published by Nintendo from the U.S. My facotry sealed Excite Truck arrived in the mail a few days ago from Philadelphia and I was shocked to see that it has the exact same trilingual packaging (English, French, and Spanish) as the Excite Truck games that are sold here.

I was told by a few Americans that their Super Paper Mario and Wii Play also have trilingual packaging.

I prefer the monolingual packaged version of a game if it exists.

So I am asking you guys to see if anyone can positively confirm one way or the other.

I believe nintendo is moving towards doing the trilingual thing for the NA region. IE Nintendo North America is just going to do a single printing for Canada, US, and Mexico thus the multi-language stuff.

I hope that is not the case but I fear it may be so.

My US copies (purchased right here in a store in Cali) of Excite Truck and Super Paper Mario are both trilingual. I'd be willing to bet all US copies of each are like this, but it's much harder to confirm domething doesn't exist than that it does.

Granted, I prefer monolingual packaging myself, but what's the big friggin' deal? I am from the States originally, but I live in Canada now, and I barely even think about the language on the package. As long as English is there somewhere, that's all I really care about.

    Likewise.

It actually surprised me that Excite Truck had the multi language as I'd bought it from someone in California, but since the Wii launch I've been seeing that Nintendo are standardising their releases to just one sort to reduce costs probably.

Yeah, that's the frustrating part: proving a negative.

Well, a growing amount of evidence points to the vast majority of those 3 Wii games having trilingual packaging upon mass release. The existence of monolingual pakaged versions seems doubtful, and even if they did exist, I suspect they would be astronomically small in number.

    [sigh]

I like said, it's a matter of esthetics. With bilingual packaging, the pictures and artwork on the back is shrunken and cramped together in order to make room for double the amount of text. Sometimes some pictures and artwork are removed altogether.

I don't find it esthetically pleasing at all.

I also don't like how the manual is now doubled in size, with the last half being of no interest to me whatsoever.

While I am bummed about what looks like a future trend for the purpose of cutting costs, the good news is that now I'll know that I won't have to import all (I'm assuming this won't apply to all Nintendo games . . yet) 1st party Nintendo games and games published by Nintendo.

I guess the rule-of-thumb here is that if I see trilingual packaging (Excite Truck) I'll know that the Americans got the same thing and therefore I won't have to import it, and, if I see bilingual packaging (Twilight Princess), I'll know that there is a monolingual version available.

Just to add Wario Ware Smooth Moves is trilingual also.

The thing is for all these trilingual releases, the ESRB logo on the front only has French and English, no Spanish. Do the ratings not apply in Mexico then?

Thanks! I'll add that to my list of games I won't have to import from the U.S. Any others?

I've been wondering the exact same thing.

Yeah this is only affecting Nintendo's own games currently. My copies of Rayman, Red Steel and Elebits are all just in English.
