Question about seller protection of digital delivered items?

A friend of mine asked me if I could sell his Runescape account on eBay, which of course would be digitally delivered through email. I told him I'd look into it and then get back to him. Basically I need to know what kind of seller protection is available through PayPal for goods that have been digitally delivered. Like for example, what if the buyer says he never recieved the item?

I was thinking I could physically mail the username/password to the winner, but I'd much rather just send the information via email...it's just much easier.

Yes mailing the password might be the way to go. I'd call paypal on this one BEFORE you start the auction.

I only know the answer to this because some idiot used a chargeback on me recently for "unauthorized payment". Aka the little $#&@ wants to keep the items and not pay. He did it to multiple other sellers. So i read over the policy and noticed it mentioned digital goods like mmorpg accounts and the such.

To your question, no you are not covered, even if you send the password. The fact is you still sold intangible goods and just mailed the password, i dont think paypal will fall for that trick.

The Seller Protection Policy does not cover:
Intangible goods, services and sales or licenses of digital content. Only the sale of physical goods is covered.

I would require the buyer to contact you first. Give their feedback, recent activity and other info a good look over for anything odd. If someone has 99.5% feedback with a rating of 300 for example you probably dont have much to worry about.
