Default What kind of TV do you use with your 360?

I've had some 360-owning friends tell me that if you don't have an HDTV, a 360 isn't really worth it. How many DPers use their 360s on HD or SD TVs?

Please keep in mind you need to own a 360 to vote in this poll

While an HDTV certainly does make a world of difference for the 360, it's not like playing it on an SDTV is the same as playing it on an HDTV with composite inputs. It looks just fine on an SDTV and as long as you're there for the games and the overall experience Live offers, what you view it on should be fairly irrelevant.

You don't have to have a HDTV to enjoy your 360. Actually, I played on an SDTV until last tuesday. But ever since I bought my HD set I feel the need to show off my 360.

TV? What is this TV you speak of? My 360 connects to a 21" Flat Dell Branded (Sony) Trinitron Computer Monitor.

I recently booted my 360 out of the house because the games library wasn't shaping up to my personal tastes, nothing wrong with the awesome hardware though.

It looked and sounded spectacular on my HD LCD (Sharp Aquos) but my nephew runs his on a regular, smaller tube tv and it still looks VERY good. A high def isn't necessary but you'll freak once you see the 360 on one.

You don't need a HDTV to appreciate the true generation leap of the 360. It still looks superb on SDTV, which I played it on for several months before buying a new HDTV.

When you DO get HDTV though, the 360 will blow your socks off even more.

I know that, but once you see dead rising in HD, you don't want to go back. I took my 360 over to a rex and they were kind enough to let me see the difference. Dead rising blew their socks off.

    32 inch Samsung CRT HDTV.

Wish I'd saved up and bought a DLP. This TV weighs a ton-and-a-half.

I actually just bought a 360 and run it (along with all my systems) on a Sony 36" through the S-Video cable and I think it still looks awesome so I have no issues with it so far

    Default hmmm...

When played on an HDTV it appears more next gen then when played on a SDTV. Your also going to want to be over 40" in screen size for even greter effect.

I really enjoyed Far Cry on my set, Dead Rsiing was nice too...Kameo is still amazing for its colors as well. The Sonic demo looked awesome for a Sonic game...

The audio is also very impressive.

I'm using a 32" Westinghouse widescreen LCD. I've been an advocate for HD since last generation, but this generation is when it's really starting to shine.

    I use a 50" plasma

And I'll be the first to say, HDTV as well as HD gaming is overrated (sorry Anthony1 :P).

It's super nice, but I don't consider it "amazing" as it's hyped up to be.

That being said, I probably wouldn't like playing it on a regular tv anymore. So take that for what you will.

Many of us get caught up in the technology and even mild increases in video technology get exaggerated. I can't go back to watching some TV in SD though.

    This is my set...

Once it's paid for and the next gen sets (SED) are similarly priced, I will likely upgrade...it's my thing...

    HDTV.

I wouldn't have bought an Xbox 360, had I planned to hook it up to my bog-standard 4:3 TV. I'd be curious to see how it looks, though...

Like others have said it doesn't look that bad, in fact, if you use component on an SDTV it still looks fantastic, and the text in Dead Rising is very readable.

Actually I'm surprised so many people here have HDTV, if I had to guess I would have thought that most people are using SDTV because whenever there is a thread asking about HDTV most people always say "I don't have it, and I won't till it gets cheaper." or "My 20" Zennith from 1978 is just fine, thank you."
