everyone has traditions for easter, spending time with family..decorating eggs...shooting pastel coloured rabbits, but I have a unique tradition I do every year.
back in the mid 80s I was relatively poor (being a kid will do that to you) but I loved the nes, when a game caught my eye I would put it on layaway at the local hardware store (bennys) and roughly would get a game every month. early april I was planning on putting this new shiny game called "legend of zelda" on layaway so we went to the store and i looked in the case and there of course was that zelda game, but! next to it was a equally shiny silver boxed game called METROID it looked far more appealing espeicaly after reading the back of the box. So I put that on layaway. spring ahead about a week to easter morning, I was expecting the traditional candy + stuffed animal combination, and what did I get? yup METROID!
NOW back then it was a true rarity for my parents to up and buy me a new game (i tended to blow through them quickly) but metroid was mine! I spent the entire easter sunday playing it (and the next serveral days till I beat it)
so every year I just have to play through metroid on my original nes with my original cartridge (and I have to get the best ending too!)
so heres some pictures from my easter morning:
System all setup!, took me an hour to find all the wires+system
my original metroid/ had to use the genie to avoid the blinky screens of doom
took me about 28 minutes to beat ridley and kraid and get up to the queen
bitch herself.
time bomb set! get out fast!
success the universe is safe, till part 2!
SEXY BABE! (yes I can get the best ending on the first playthrough, go me!)
anyways thats my easter, does anyone else have any interesting easter related game stories?
