I would have thought the first two games killed any chance for a sequel.
Movies generally don't kill anything for video game sequels, if that were the case then there would have been no more Street Fighter, or Mario games. Since apparently there is going to be a 3rd Bloodrayne movie, maybe developers just aren't as interested in the series as Uwe Boll is.
It probably has more to do with Majesco redefining itself after nearly going belly-up. Bloodrayne part of its failed plan to become a major publisher of AAA titles, which nearly destroyed the company. Now they focus on quality budget titles like Nanostray and Cooking Mama.
Bloodrayne + Psychonauts + (especially) Advent Rising = Bad news for Majesco of old.
Bloodrayne 2 was a much better product than the 1st. Better graphics, better gameplay, and a halfway decent story.
I met a Majesco employee at a party I threw a long time ago and he said that most of the designers/developers were downright embarrassed about Bloodrayne 1 despite the fact that it sold pretty well.
Though I don't think that there's much chance of a sequel ... unless another company picks up the licence.

Heh, I liked the bloodrayne games. Gratuitous violence and nazi killing as a vampire? Where do you go wrong?
Not the best games, but certainly entertaining.

Spoken like someone who's never even played the game! Where did the anti-Bloodrayne bandwagon even originate from? There seems to be some belief that the games were complete shit or something amongst the people that never played them. Is it just because of the Uwe Boll movie or something?

I'd love to see a BloodRayne 3, game or movie. Bloodrayne 2 handled differently from the first and was a pretty good improvement.
And while the first movie wasn't great the second movie was much better, a simple western that had more of a made-for-tv feel to it.

Nope, I played BOTH of them. I completed the first one, grudgingly, and returned the sequel halfway through.
Those games are basically everything that's wrong with action game design, crystalized into vampire hooker form.
You have your shitty story, your idiotic character design that doesn't mesh with either the story OR the time period, backtracking level design, bullet time, bad AI, and my favorite part, cut-scenes where the only physics in sight are applied to boobs. Remember the fight between the female Nazi doctor? In the cutscene prior to the boss battle, the two females move around the floor like they were shooting range dummies: no shoulders, heads or even legs moved. It's like they were being pulled on wagons. But their TITS moved like they were filled with angry bees. Come on.
If you were to make an argument that an action game can get away with that kind of shit as long as the gameplay is good, I'd agree. Devil May Cry, God of War, and Ninja Gaiden all suffer from the design issues above to one degree or another. Problem is, the WORST part of Bloodrayne 1 were the controls. Shady jumping, horrible camera, and floaty hit detection.
So yeah. I played those games. They sucked, and I don't care how awesome people thought the boobs, nazis and giant retarded knives on Bloodraynes' arms were.
All of course, IMHO
