Looks really nice, however the game selection is decent enough to warrent the question to be asked:
Anyone thinking about picking this up?

I would but the game selection is horrible and with no slot to play any cartridge game it is pretty pointless IMO.
I have their "Play Pal" TV Game unit, which has 20 games on it. Good ones too.
I picked that up for about $15 ...
... no way I'd pick up the MS3 for what they're allegedly asking price-wise ($239 US) though it does have a decent selection of games (IMO).
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I think it has a pretty good selection of games but there is no way in hell id pay 239 bucks for it.
Tifa, I'm not fit to help anyone, not my family, not my freinds, no one..... (Cloud)
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Bah. If I were to pay $239 for a SMS, I'd want:
1) A CARTRIDGE SLOT
2) Phantasy Star, Ys, and Ultima IV.
...and probably more games, too.
Are there SMS games that use 6-button controllers?
It's DEFINITELY not worth it. Tec Toy put that abusive price on it (and on the slotless Mega Drive as well) because it appears to be cheap when compared to modern videogames, that are overpiced due to the import taxes. A Wii here costs more than 1000 reais (1 dollar = 1,65 reais approximatelly).[
It's not that much of a good deal for them, though; even the poorest parents prefer to save money and buy a second hand PS2 (or a contrabanded one).
I wasn't aware of that new design, by the way. Looking pretty damn good. Too bad it sucks.
Blowing on cartridges since 1987
If it's like other SMS 6-button controllers, the third button acts as 1+2 simultaneously while the top buttons are turbo.
What I want to know is if that Start button acts as a pause button. I don't see one on the system itself...so maybe. That would be worth $230 right there!

"It’s not U$ 239. It’s R$ 239. (aproximately U$ 155)"
People should read more.
Holy crap!
Those Brazilians sure do love their Master Systems!
It actually looks very nice. But no cart or card slot - I'll pass... And it's definitely not worth the $240 they want for it - even with every SMS game on it; it's just to expensive.
EDIT I Just noticed Woody Pop was on that list of games - I thought that game was never released.

Yeah, around that. Insane, isn't it? Our import taxes are among the highest on the planet. But I read somewhere that the congress is about to pass a law reducing taxes over eletronic games drastically. Let's hope so!
Hehehe! Not really, dude! No self-respecting brazilian gamer will buy that - it's much better to buy an used one on Mercado Livre, our local eBay.
Tec Toy only sells these things to those unaware parents who want to give their little kids a console, but know nothing about gaming.

I must say, it looks like a nice sleek system, just take that Sonic off the top, add a cart slot, and price it . . . reasonably.
Seriously though, it doesn't even have Choplifter or Phantasy Star.
It's probably possible to hack a cartridge slot into it. I doubt Tec Toy would make any change on the main board...

Very cool looking but very overpriced.
Nintendo has done that before, they released the iQue in China years after it died in the West because they wanted to exploit a secondary market, and they made it kind of like the Disk System in Japan, except there were no carts, you could only get games from officially licensed stations where you downloaded them, thus making piracy impossible.
Ummmm ....
This is from the blog entry that the first post links to.
"I am very tempted to buy this piece of kit myself, but I am put off by the ridiculous price tag. Apparently (accoring to Terra) the system is being sold for $239(US)! - I couldn’t see the price on Tec Toy’s official site though."
I don't know how much more you expect people to "read", but when I'm reading something like that, I'll take it at face value in the moment and move on.
That being said ... even $155 USD is WAY too much for a unit like that.
