    Too many stickers
Selling used discs for complete price.
    Selling used games as new.
    18-day trade-in wait period.
    Etc.

"Devil's in the details" pops to mind when it comes to Gamestop. It's not just one little thing that tick gamers off, it's a LOT of little things. Kinda like sitting on a chair with pointy rock hiding in the cushion. Instead of one, there's ten. Funny, with the billions in profit, you'd think they invest some of those funds in a think tank to improve customer service (even if they're "minor").

Me thinks they've gotten too big for their britches and developed a swelled head as a result of "monopolitus". (Side effects include rapid white hair growth above the lip, top hat compulsiveness, and addicted to colored paper with numbers. ) Do you guys sometimes think it'd been better if Gamestop "dissolved" back to EB, Funcoland, Software Etc? You know before GS gobbled them up.

And anyone who knows me, knows I hate Monopoly! :P

Maybe having 3-5 national chains all selling the same stuff would be more competitive... and the prices would be lower. But truthfully, they all would probably think working together as one is better than fighting with each other...and they would have merged anyway.

on another note, Oblivion is really awesome! I am having a blast with it. It was definitively worth getting ripped off by GS

Though, I should not have read all the character build faqs. I put athletics as a major skill because it's supposed to be controllable and it keeps gaining levels with that. Maybe I jump too much? haha

Jumping is my main method of getting around in these games. It just seems faster to hop from place to place than to run.

Well, except when I enchanted an amulet that gave me permanent powers of flight in Morrowind.

Shipping is usually $4-5 which is more expensive than FL tax (~$2). So with that justification I felt that it was worth paying the tax to have my game here immediately (and it supports my State).

I just did a pretend 'purchase' and i've got a receives in 5-9 business days as it lists for all stuff shipped Saver. I have many many times pre-ordered games, clicked saver and gotten them 2 days after release. I will be glad to buy the few games in my cart that are new and in stock with Amazon and note their time it takes to get to me here. But what I don't get is, if you wern't happy with the potential condition and have been waiting 6 months for the game, why you just didn't wait the additional 'week*' to get it and make you happy with.

    * Just because it says 5-9 days does not mean it takes 5-9 days to get shipped to you.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

ok first of all 5-9 business days is 1-2 weeks. I have ordered many things from amazon, they always take 2 weeks to get here.

where did you get that I waited 6 months for the game? I just started to get interested about a week and a half ago when I started the topic Fallout vs. Oblivion...

I never seem to have the problem with them taking 2 weeks to get to me, I have the occasinonal problem of them processing an order in a timely manner (especially as of late), but shipping never takes me two weeks to get. Normal shipping is 2-4 days going through saver.

There. I read, I' get about 1-2 games a year so my anticipation is already pretty strong' as meaning this is about time for that one game every 6 or so months and i've been chompin at the bit to be able to buy and play this game i've been anticipating for quite a while. I didn't place your thread of this last week (Fallout vs Oblivion) as the instigation behind the purchase.

Gamestop, for whatever flaws the business side might have, is certainly convenient and sometimes incredibly inexpensive when they have their fire sales on old merchandise and buy 2 get 1 free deals/coupons. Not too long ago, I must have scoured 15-20 stores for old Game Boy games. Not one of those stores was more than 20 minutes away and I ended up getting at least 20 great games for what couldn't have been more than $60-70. And after factoring in the store inventory search on the website, it makes finding something a breeze.

Just yesterday I used the inventory search to grab a Gamecube broadband adapter for $1.06 after tax. I personally cannot justify swearing off the company because it likes to put stickers on things. The inconvenience of carefully removing a sticker is substantially outweighed by the benefits. I'm not saying that anybody who does decide to boycott the place is foolish or misguided or anything (it's their dollar to spend where they choose, after all) but I'm trying to say that a little perspective can go a long way.

This isn't to say that I wouldn't like it if more classic game stores or mom and pop shops that have a different breed of inventory started popping up. It's good to have that kind of diversity. But I'm not going to fault Gamestop for being successful.

The fucked up thing about Amazon's shipping policies, I'm starting to become convinced, is the way Super Saver Shipping seems to work. When I order something and pay for shipping, it seems like I get a message saying they shipped it around the next day and then it comes in three days. When I order something Super Saver, I get a message saying they shipped it four days later and then it gets here in, yep, three days. So it seems like Super Saver isn't some kind of less expensive shipping method for Amazon, it's just Amazon intentionally slowing down your order to try to encourage you to pay for shipping. That's my theory, anyway.

Super Saver shipping means that you don't care about processing time. I believe that it puts your order at the end of the queue, rather than the front. Amazon's shipping system is very automated, as in, computer-guided conveyor belts and stuff, so it's just a matter of telling the computer when to put your items in a box. Look up some video of Amazon's warehouses, quite an interesting place, with men and machines working at the same time.

That's Casshan/Casshern, right? I've been looking for that for a while, and it seems that Amazon is going to be my only option.
