    Default psp 2000 screen problem

A friend of my fathers asked me to look at his daughter psp 200 for them. The screen is not cracked *i've fixed a bunch of those* , but shows vertical video lines all over the screen. Lines change color as you go to the game or things and move. Impossible to see anything from the game or psp menu screen though. Any ideas?

I don't have any experience with psp's, but that sounds like a connection problem. Just a guess, but does the screen connect to the pcb by ribbon cable? Perhaps all that is needed is a quick cleaning and reconnect?

But then again, I've never even played on a psp.

The screens are indeed on ribbon cables, several in fact. The fact that the picture is at least complete and not blinking out makes me think that either something on the motherboard is bad, or the LCD itself has issues. If you check the connections and no improvement, something needs to be replaced.

I believe the smaller cable is power, with the other being the video signal. Just be careful taking it out, those things are fragile as hell.

I had this same problem mine also had portions of the screen black. I read online that it means the screen is broken........ LIES!!!! (at least for me)
For me all I did is open up the psp lifted up the screen, and paced back down centered it alittle more. and BINGO it worked perfect.
My guess is maybe it need to be realigned, like mine.
    Try This.
    BEST OF LUCK...

Well I checked the screen with my other psp slim. Its not the screen, so I guess its the motherboard. Any good places to find a cheap mother board for psp 2000? If not what would be a good price to offer him for this one, as I could use the umd drive now, and perhaps the screen later on.

Offer maybe $20 if you plan to keep it for spare parts. More if you plan to sell the parts indivually.

As for a new motherboard, you're getting close to the price of a new unit. Last I checked, they aren't cheap, and I personally don't like working inside the PSP due to fragile components and tiny wires. A used unit would probably be the way to go, unless you don't mind taking the whole thing apart to get the mobo, then putting it all back together again.
