The reason I ask is I'm wanting to buy Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii but as far as I can tell it only came out in France in Europe.
Will it have an English language option or does that depend on the game?

I reject your reality and substitute it for one of my own!
Er... Sure that wasn't released here?

I have a sig?
It does in fact depend on the game and the specific European version. I have seen many Wii games released in France that only had French language as the only option. Other games have English, French, Spanish and German. Yet others may have some other combination of these options both on the case and in-game. My best advice is to ask the seller to e-mail you a scan of the back of the case as the language options are usually listed.
It looks like you can play in English based on the screenshots on the official website:

This is the site for the French/European version, not the American one. If you click on the UK flag, it shows the screenshots in the media section in English. If you click on French flag, the screenshots are in French. Same with Germany, Italy and Spain (German, Italian, and French screenshots).

Thanks for the replies!
Good to know there's a reasonable chance it will have English options. I will ask when I find a copy for a price I like.
Odd (and annoying) that it only came out in France.

That's what confused me... I read the original post as "only released in France" (period), but he continued "in Europe", excluding US I guess... But know I'm more confused!

Sometimes PAL games aren't released in every country one would ordinarily expect them to.
DBZ comes to mind. A few of the early ones got translated only to French, weird as that seems today.
Lum fan.
Goes to show what time can change.

The Giana Sisters revamp was only released in Germany, but that's got English as part of it. The key is looking (or asking about) the coloured flash on the spine, it tells you which countries the game is supposed to be released in, and gives a good indication about which languages would be included.

Brown is apparently Australia, though I can't confirm that.
I've always wondered about those flashes myself. Interestingly, virtually all of my Konami DS games are Purple flashes...
It was released in Australia as well and was intended for worldwide release at some point which never happened, but that's why there is an English option. The color on the spine tells you the countries, but it doesn't always indicate whether or not the game has an English option. There are lots of German, French and Italian market games that are monolingual in both packaging and in-game content. There are also lots that are multilingual on the packaging and in-game.
So that's:
Green = UK
Purple = Germany
Yellow = Spain (confirmation needed)
Blue = Netherlands
Brown = Australia (confirmation needed)
Pink = ???
Pink could be France. Italy will have a colour. Portugal may be separate or counted as part of Spain. Not sure if Nintendo releases games in Europe east of Germany?
EDIT: Yellow could actually be the Scandinavia countries. Recently got Henry Hatsworth and that had a yellow flash with the Scandinavia flags printed on the back.

The thing is, it's not as simple as that. Most flashes represent groups of countries, not single ones afaik. Plus some of the PAL exclusive Cube titles I've bought in the UK have got pink and purple flashes on them, not just green, and an English manual and text has been present.
