I skimmed the selection of videos you uploaded and watched a handful.

So, your "Playstation Collecting.com" videos so far are just unboxings, you and other people showing your collections, and uploads of old PSX commercials?

It's a very lazy selection of material that you've produced (not only in type but execution), and having it under the umbrella of the PlayStation Collecting channel makes it sound like users should expect something more significant, original or interesting than what you're presenting. Items you label as "reviews," such as the Enslaved presskit are barely that; you didn't even show any footage of the discs being played. These are all videos that random Youtube users do a better job of producing on a daily basis, and with much less self fanfare.

I suppose I was expecting more real PSX collecting information; perhaps something akin to a YouTube version of Dangerboy's PSX collecting site, as opposed to another "Oh, look at this crap I bought." channel.

well thats you're opinion and you're entitled to it I've had a lot of positive reactions on the channel, but it's always good to hear a different sound.

As it is about collecting, I show the items not the gameplay.. since personally I'm not interested in the gameplay of most games.

And about the fanfare, I'm just notifying and trying to spread the word. Not telling you it's the greatest thing ever made, just getting the word out for those who are interested

Do you think you'll ever make a video with just PS1 demo disc? I'd be interested in seeing that.

    @xtincthed
Quit spamming every forum out there with your vids. I am all about promoting up and coming sites, but this self promoting is getting a bit old, especially when the content is so weak and poorly orchestrated. I am not trying to rain on your parade, but taking the advice of some of your viewers may help you out in the long run.

Best of luck with your website.

what kind of demo discs do you mean?
the ones that you got with magazines or the ones you got with games (for instance FF8 demo with FF7 platinum version)

Since this topic is about our Youtube channel, i'm posting when there is new content, yes this is promotion and yes it is on multipe fora. But if you're not interested, why click the topics? Or if you're interested and see it on multiple fora, just read one?

About the quality of the content, I'm sorry that you don't like it and I take your critique at heart.
The big majority of reactions is very positive, but I have to agree that the videos I personally made are far from professional, but it is neither my intention nor goal to be a professional Youtube reviewer. I do try to improve tho
But again, I take your critique seriously and I realise that (because of a lack of time) I'm not spending enough time in the communities and just making advertisements for the site

Not the magazine demos but the more uncommon ones like demos you got for preordering certain games or ones that were only available at certain locations. Actually, I suppose it doesn't matter as long as it isn't just the magazine demos because those are dirt common.

If you're not willing to invest a ton of editing and writing time in the videos, at least do a few things that will greatly improve the quality and only take a small initial investment in time:

Create a quick opening video sequence telling people what the channel or videos are about, and paste that at the beginning of each. Possibly create a few different ones for each video type.

Use brighter lighting when recording, and correct the white balance on your camera. Get an external mic if you can afford it (which I'm sure you can, judging by all the stuff you buy)

Try not to sound like a thug when talking to the camera. Omit as much slang as possible.

Write a quick script (at least mentally) for what you intend to say. Structure it better so it's not just, "look at what I bought off ebay, it's really cool, okay thanks bai." If a video isn't at least a couple minutes long, make it a combined video with another item.

Put more freakin' effort into these, or stop promoting them like they're this big deal. There's enough quality youtube video makers out there already that there's little reason for anyone to watch these in particular. Give people a reason.

I'd like to do that, or atleast ask someone to make that

i thought the lighting of the later videos was a lot better then the early ones, using all the lights i have available. But since i'm recording with a photocamera the quality isn't HD (or close)

Try not to sound like a thug when talking to the camera. Omit as much slang as possible.
hehe this made me laugh as you can judge by my accent i'm no natural speaker and my vocabulary comes mainly from games and movies.

Write a quick script (at least mentally) for what you intend to say. Structure it better so it's not just, "look at what I bought off ebay, it's really cool, okay thanks bai." If a video isn't at least a couple minutes long, make it a combined video with another item.
I do the mental script thing, I think about what I wanna say and if i mess up I start over but yeah i could add more items to make the videos a bit longer

Put more freakin' effort into these, or stop promoting them like they're this big deal. There's enough quality youtube video makers out there already that there's little reason for anyone to watch these in particular. Give people a reason.
I'm actually putting effort in these, but next to my full time study, job and girfriend I don't have the time to create epic presentations.. but I'm very happy with the critique and will take it at heart

First of all, thanks for the advice. I'm no professional, nor do i intend to be, so any help to improve the quality is always welcome!
I realise that the promotion was a little too much, making it look spam, which wasnt my intention.
