So I would like to get into some Naomi 2 hardware and I am a complete noob when it comes to the hardware I need. I see motherboards and such on ebay but what would I need to get to have a complete setup?

Why exactly would you want to get into it knowing so little about it..? It's not like there were particularly notable games released.

Do you need a Naomi 2 to play Naomi 2 GD-Rom games? It says on the system16 page te N2 GD-Rom drive is compatible with Naomi 1, but I'd like to be sure. I'd really like to get Beach Spikers for my arcade.
As for hooking up a N2 - if you are just doing cart games, you should be fine with just the N2 mobo and a Capcom I/O. If you are doing GD-Rom, it gets a whole lot more complex. Here's a two-part vid on setting up N1 + GD-Rom, I imagine it's the same process with N2.
