Default What Games Were Better on Genesis Than on SNES?

The Genesis had the faster processor but not the color palette, hardware scaling or symphonious sound chip.

And yet, I can't help but think that some of the Genesis games turned out better than they did on the SNES. Most of the sports games, for example - though some of the later Madden and NBA Live games were very good on SNES, those series always excelled on the Genny, at least in my eyes.

There are LOTS of crossovers. Over 250 of them, in fact (I've attached a list here for your perusal).

If you've played them both, which games work better on Genesis?

Earthworm jim was sooo much better on the Genesis.
not many others as I recall the color pallete and Sony designed music chip in the almighty Supernes was almost a generational jump over most of the Genesis ports just look at Mortal KombatII it looked great on the SNES and even played well and the Genesis got what? more "real" blood heh not a very good trade off.

Aladdin & the Jurassic Park games

Aladdin - the SNES version was missing something, i might have been spoiled since i played the Genesis version first.

I thought the overhead view of all the Nintendo Jurassic Park games was annoying and not very fun....and i liked playing as the Raptor.

Any EA sports game is better on the Genesis. Don't really remember the others. I was always a Genesis person.

Hey, Aladdin for the SNES was still good, but the Genesis was still better.

Beavis & Butthead: one was terrible, one was decent. Couldn't tell you which one now...

Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES just seemed to work better than the Genesis, but this is strictly opinion.

The first MK on Genesis was AWESOMELY done, but the next 3 MKs were lackluster on the Genny, and superb on the SNES. Wasn't a graphic issue... the first MK played tight on the Genny, and crappily for the next 3.

Both Tazmanias were good and different, but the Genesis one was a little better.

I think the Genesis Beavis and Butthead was the better of the two because of the digitized speech and the crude humor wasn't censored. (Farting and belching as attacks, etc.) I remember there was a lot of speech for a cartridge game.

Adv. of Batman and Robin, though one of the most visciously difficult games I've ever played, was just more fun on the Genny. Really pushed the console as well.

I've heard that sparkster (The Sequel to rocket knight) is better on the genny, but I only have the snes one. I also think Pac-man 2 works better on genesis, because the SNES version has Ms. Pac-man as an unlockable game, while the Genesis version has Jr. Pac-man, an all new game (It's different from pac-man jr.)

I will put a second vote in for Aladin and the EA NHL series. They were the first 2 that jumped into my mind when I read the subject.

Oh and the Strike series. I thought at least Desert played better on the Geni.

I thought the Lion King had better sound on the Genesis. That's all I can really think of at the moment.

    Any and All Sports games.

They were all faster with less lag.

And the Snes made all the players look short and fat.

saturday night slammasters on the genesis had death matches and scorp and jumbo were selectable in one on one mode

tmnt tournament fighters were two different games on those consoles, but I liked the snes version better

also in the genesis version of aladdin he had a sword and didn't have to fend off enemies with apples

The genesis port of Fatal Fury always seemed better to me... the SNES had more characters but the Genny kept in the dual-plane fighting system, something that made Fatal Fury feel like... well, Fatal Fury.

    OUTLANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much, much better for the Genesis. The Genesis features an in-the-car view that is very well done, while the SNES version has a very lame outside-the-car view. The game just plays so much better with the in-the-car view; you actually feel like you're part of the action. I remember trying to play the SNES version after I played the Genesis version and I couldn't get into it at all. And you think the SNES would be the one to feature the in-the-car view due to its graphical superiority. It's also, IMO, one of the most underrated games out there; it's always been a favorite of mine, but no one else seems to ever talk about it.

Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter 2 were better on the Genesis...because the Genny 6 button pad destroyed the SNES controller. Does that count? The Genny port of SSF2 was actually pretty close to the SNES version in sound and graphics though (and was 40 mbit to the SNES versions 32 mbit).

Samurai Shodown on the Genny was better than the SNES version, the SNES version had fully scaled out sprites (they were tiny) while the Genny had fully scaled in sprites (they were huge, but the Genny didn't have Earthquake).

Aladdin was mentioned already, and Earthworm Jim was also. (Shiny developed both, I don't think Shiny developed the SNES version of Aladdin, which was why the Genesis version was different and superior to the SNES version).

I like Shadowrun on the Genny more. It's darker, and more adult compared to the SNES version(which I also enjoy, just not as much).
